Junwei put the file down and gazed at Alex. "You did not do what I have asked you to. If you cannot handle a breakup, then leave the company right away," he angrily said.
"I used the most innovative way," Alex tried to defend himself.
"This is a mediocre-level idea. Anyone can do it. I am not going forward with this," Junwei stated and leaned back on his swivel chair.
Alex stepped up and picked up the file. "I won't give you any chance to complain the next time I come to you," he confidently said.
Junwei ended up smiling. No matter how much he would scold Alex, he would not leave him. He would only be more positive. This was what he liked about Alex.
"Did you visit her?" Alex asked.
"No," Junwei replied. "Not yet," he muttered.
"Come with me. It's a break hour," Alex said and walked up to Junwei. He pulled Junwei up and dragged him out with him.
"Where are you taking me to?" Junwei asked.
"To the roof," Alex said and they used to stairs to reach the roof.
"Why? I have work," Junwei was not interested in going to the roof and was lazily walking with Alex. However, Alex did not listen to Junwei.
They were finally at the rooftop. Alex let go of Junwei's hand and walked ahead of him. He turned around and asked Junwei to come forward.
Junwei had one hand inside his pocket and he rubbed the temple of his forehead before stepping forward toward him.
"Feel the air, Junwei. It feels good here," Alex said and extended his arms out.
Junwei smiled and realized Alex used to say this to him whenever he would be upset.
Alex saw Junwei had walked ahead toward the roof edge. Junwei had his forearms rested on the aluminum rail as he looked down. Everything appeared so small as if it would fit in his hand.
Alex approached him and stood next to Junwei. He also lowered his head to look at the small vehicles running on the road.
"Nothing changed, Jun. Years passed and you feel stuck. In her memories," Alex spoke and took a deep breath.
"I tried," Junwei said and tilted his head to look at him. "I try every day. Her loss hurts me the same way as it used to when she passed away," he muttered.
"You have tried nothing, Jun. You created her AI tool and that itself shows how much you yearn for her. Time heals everything and everyone, but see yourself. We are hurt to see you like this," Alex said with a concerned look.
"I think it's my life now," Junwei asserted.
"Date someone," Alex said.
"Again, you are suggesting to date someone just to get out of her memories," Junwei muttered.
"I thought you and Sophie have something going on. Why don't you date her?" Alex suggested to her.
Junwei tilted his head with a frown.
"Her eyes say all. She fancies you and you two look good together. Your grandfather and mother like her," Alex started counting Junwei Sophie's qualities.
"I am happy by myself," Junwei said.
"But you enjoy her company. Don't you think?" Alex questioned him.
"I never enjoyed her company," Junwei asserted. "Who is spreading false rumors about my relationship with her?" He gritted his teeth in anger.
"See. You act differently whenever I talk about Sophie. She bothers you," Alex affirmed.
"Anyone would be irritated by her," Junwei said.
"No. Only you. Rest love to talk to her," Alex corrected him.
"Because the rest are her fans while I am not. They think of her as a goddess," Junwei affirmed.
"That's what makes your relationship different with her. Jun, she was reading about you in the cafeteria area in the morning. I have a feeling that Sophie does have strong feelings for you," Alex asserted.
Junwei recalled how in the car Sophie asked him l not to stop her feelings from developing. However, he did not want to tell Alex about it.
"It feels so good here," Alex said and turned around. His elbows rested on the handrail and he tilted his head to look at Junwei.
"I heard you treated Sophie badly. She is a woman and you should treat her gently. Your mother will scold you if she finds out," Alex said.
"Did Wang Zexi tell you about the morning incident?" Junwei asked.
"Yep!" Alex nodded at him. "You caught Sophie from falling but then you threw her to the floor. Who does that?!" He was shocked to learn about his friend's actions.
"Well," Junwei paused and recalled how he found her someone familiar.
"What?" Alex expected him to finish the sentence.
"Nothing," Junwei said.
"Hey, tell me. You should not hide anything from me," Alex stated.
"Do you remember I told you about a blind girl who was admitted to the same hospital where Feng Jiao's treatment was going on?" Junwei asked him.
"There was such a girl," Alex had no such memory and arched his eyebrow at him. "What about her?" He asked.
"Nothing," Junwei said and gazed at his wristwatch. "The break is over," he said.
"What about her? Tell me. I am not going to leave unless you speak about her," Alex stated.
"You don't even remember, so there is no use in discussing," Junwei stated.
"I do. The blind girl, who gave you a rose. Am I right?" Alex asked. "You never talked about her. Did you meet her?" He suddenly turned excited, thinking his best friend would finally see a woman.
"Yes, the same girl. I didn't meet her. It's just it felt strange when I prevented Sophie from falling. For one second, I felt I had seen those eyes, and I remembered that girl," Junwei said.
"Why did you suddenly recall her? That's so strange," Alex muttered.
"I am getting late. I have an important meeting to attend. I expect the best solution from you, Alex," Junwei said and walked away. He didn't answer Alex because it was of no use.
There was no way Sophie could be that blind girl. Junwei thought and soon left the roof.
