Chapter 15: CHAPTER-15
The door to the interrogation room opened and the people walked out with solemn expressions, and Alex was at the back walking with them. He then went straight to room no 77 and slept for the night.
Alex woke up the next morning feeling refreshed, he went to the bathroom and got refreshed. After that he got out of the room and walked to the elevator. After entering the elevator, he pressed on 1 and it swiftly moved down and in a few seconds the door opened. Alex walked out of the elevator and walked towards the exit of the building, as he got out of the building, he was assaulted by glaring sunlight. He closed his eyes and let the warmth of the sun wash over him for a second then walked forward and hailed a cab. A car stopped before him and the driver asked: "Where would you like to go sir?"
"Take me to the Marcus steel depot," replied Alex as he opened the door and sat inside the cab.
After he entered, the cab sped towards the destination. In about fifteen minutes the cab reached his destination, as it was during the office times, the roads were not crowded much. After paying the cab fare, Alex got out of the cab and walked into the nearby coffee shop, which is opposite the Marcus steel depot. After he entered the shop, he found a corner to sit and ordered donuts and black coffee.
He then willed the Nanites to divide and secretly enter the depot and check the situation in and devour some metals. He wanted to increase the Nanites density to 10 kilos before he starts any planning. Nanites devour metal and transform the metals into their base material, which is the original material they were made of. It will be a waste to use them to transform into regular objects unless he has a large amount of them available.
So, he planned to first increase their density to 10 kilos and then set up a stable energy point for them. In a few seconds, a lump of Nanites swiftly made their way into the storage and saw tons of metallic products stored in. Most were in the shape of square blocks and each of them weighs a ton as stated on the product details note stuck on them. They moved towards the end and destroyed the cams at that corner of the storage and started devouring the metal. In seconds they made good progress as more and more Nanites were cloned, which in turn started devouring the block.
Alex sitting in the coffee shop, felt primal hunger and satisfaction coming from the Nanites in his body, which also made his mood happier and satisfied. He watched as Nanites increased in numbers exponentially, which increased the speed of devouring the metal. During the plane hijacking, he let Nanites secretly consume the alloys and in the end they increased to 1.5 kilos.
Now, Alex let 1.2 kilos of Nanites go and devour the metals, which meant they could devour 1.2 kilos of metal and clone 1.2 grams of Nanites simultaneously, which in turn reduces the time required at which they devour the metal. In 10 minutes, they finished the entire 1-ton block of steel and increased to a blob of 11.2 kilos.
They then proceeded to devour another block of metal. This time, the speed of devouring is even faster as the number of Nanites increased exponentially, reaching 11.2 kilos. They started devouring huge chunks of metal; if anyone saw the metal block, they could see a blanket of metal moving on the metal block, leaving an emptiness in their wake.
After devouring another block of metal, Nanites size increased to 22.4 kilos. When they went for the third block, Alex stopped them as Animus reminded him that energy is insufficient to power up a large number of the Nanites. So, he had them stop devouring metals and made them divide into countless parts and spread all around and follow him.
Alex sighed contently after seeing the huge number of Nanites, even though he knew they are a drop of what they were during their heyday. Alex knows it will take time and he had to be stable and cautious to not alert any government bodies before he had enough power to contend. With the number of Nanites he has at present, he can kill anyone silently. Heck!, he can even slaughter cities. But, that's not what he wanted, as he needs humanity as a whole for him to advance into space, and he alone cant do it.
Alex finished his coffee and after paying the bill, he left the shop and once again headed for Flemington city. This time, he doesn't want to travel by plane. So on the way outside of the shop, he once again hailed a cab and went to an Automobile parkade. He then let 10 kilos of Nanites devour a bike and car. Meanwhile, another half went to a gas station and devoured the Petroleum stored under the gas station.
The 12.4 kilos of Nanites drank or devoured the petroleum clean. The petroleum was at half the amount of the storage space, and the Nanites devoured them even faster than metals; in just a min, they finished the entire storage clean of the petroleum and swiftly left the storage as the employees were hurrying out to check if there was any leak in the storage tank as the systems showed the entire tank of petroleum is empty.
With the recent influx of energy, the Nanites can standby for a few weeks. After all the Nanites returned, Alex then walked into the parking space and had the Nanites transform into a bike. They transformed into the motorcycle they devoured, which was an old sports model of "Tarda Motors."
He watched contently and in awe as the Nanites transformed from a lump of metal to a bike in a second. He then made some changes to the bike's looks to make it look like a recent model of the Tarda Motors. As soon as Alex sat on the bike, he felt as if he returned to the warm embrace of himself. It felt very magical.
Obviously, the thing he was on was a bike, but it is transformed by Nanites and Nanites are a part of him. When they increased in density and embraced with Alex, it made a seamless connection between Alex and Nanites, both physically and at a soul level.
Alex felt some prickling in his head and seemed to hear a cracking sound.
Crack…crack..crack…
Bang!!
With a Bang, something seemed to broke inside his head and his mind became so clear and refreshed, and some vague memories of himself started to flash by. He wasn't able to fully see what they are off, but he was able to see that he seemed to be in some kind of underground space. Blood and bodies were lying all over the place. For some unknown reason, he felt sad and his heart was pained seeing the bodies and the blood.
After a few minutes, Alex woke-up from the trance and patted the bike gently. He decided to investigate the matter of the memories later on when he reached the city, and then proceeded to put on the helmet, which was also transformed by Nanites and drove the bike to his destination.

Chapter 16: CHAPTER-16
After reaching the highway, Alex had the Nanites turn the Stealth function and made a dome-like structure over him. He then changed the exterior of the bike and made it a uni-wheeled bike and had the Nanites control the bike. He simply closed his eyes and laid inside the bike, as the motorcycle sped up like wind reaching 300 km/hr without a sound or producing any kinetic force.
Alex rested inside the circular-shaped vehicle about a width of two feet and digested the information recieved from devouring the vehicles. Even though the transfer of knowledge is instantaneous, he needs to put some effort to understand and get experience at the knowledge he recieved completely. Without anyone's knowledge, the bike travelled on the highway passing by vehicles, who had no idea that something passed by them at such high speeds.
In an hour the bike travelled from "Tranov calculus city" and reached "Flemington". Alex made the bike stop at a remote place at the outskirts of the city and changed the bike back to normal. He then drove it into the city and into an alley where he changed the Nanites back to their Default form and had them enter his clothes and cover his entire body with a thin sheet of Nanites.
While Alex was in Flemington city, at the previous city "Marcus steel depot" at the storage warehouse where the Nanites devoured the Steel, police were investigating the scene on as to find out how the Steel disappeared. The storage manager was sweating hard, as he was the one responsible for looking after all the storage warehouses. But, never had there been anything stolen, and who in their right mind would steal metals that weigh a ton.
So, when he was notified that two blocks of metal had disappeared, he thought the workers might have displaced the blocks in a different warehouse. But, when he looked through the entire placement sheets and found no extra blocks or any errors in the computer data and the metal blocks were stored in their correct location. Sadly, the camera in that particular warehouse hasn't been working for a long time, and no one knows, when or who and how the metal block went missing.
The police officer at the scene spoke to the warehouse manager: I am sorry, Mr Muta, but this can't be filed as stolen goods. There are no tracks or any clues if there ever was any metal block placed on the ground. We would have surely found out any clues, and I fear there may have been some error on your side". After saying his piece, the officers entered their cars and returned back to their posts.
Mr. Muta opened his mouth to speak, but no voice left his mouth as he dumbly stared at the receding cars, it was when his mobile rang that he woke from the daze and looked at his mobile. He shakily clicked on accept and put the phone near his ears to only hear a thunderous voice from the other end: "YOU ARE FIRED!!".
Before Muta could speak back, the call was disconnected and his knees gave in and he weakly fell onto his buttocks. The workers were snickering looking at his misfortune. Actually, Mr. Muta wasn't a decent man, and he always made the workers work overtime and don't pay them their due amounts. He was arrogant and looked down on the workers and menial labourers. But, now the tables have turned and its their time to look down on him and laugh at his drastic change in the situation.
The company will surely sue him to pay for the stolen goods and fined more for various charges, as he knows many people will kick him down, now that he has got no backing.
Alex, who was at Flemington city doesn't know the consequences of his doing. Even if he knows, he would have still done it, as he doesn't care about people like Mr. Muta, who are selfish and greedy. He is currently racking his brains on how to develop Nanites for which he needs a huge amount of metal and power. If these two things were settled, then he can have them devour everything and anything and develop new technologies.
To reach the last step he needs first to complete the first two steps and for them, he needs a stable input of both power and metals, which can only be bought, as stealing is not a solution for the long term. When the cases of mysterious disappearances of metals start raising, government agencies will get suspicious and they might even found out that its caused by him. So, he is stuck in a dilema of buying or stealing the metals.
If he wanted to buy the metals, there were many problems to face. As he use them to increase Nanites, so there's no output of any products from him, which will raise suspicions in the long term. But, for now there won't be any problem except that he needs a large amount of money to buy them. Even though his family is well, he needs tens to hundreds of millions to buy the number of metals he required. Which they cant obviously provide and he won't ask them.
Alex was lost in thoughts when an idea struck him. He can control Nanites from anywhere around the world, from the information that Nanites gave him the communication range seemed to be very large, Animus didn't specify the number. Still, it must have been a vast range as a very advanced civilization used it.
Contradicting his earlier thoughts, Alex decided the best plan is to steal and devour the metals. But, he decided to send them somewhere far from his location maybe a few states away and operate them from his location and devour the metals at that place. So, even if something happens he won't be in radar, as he won't be near the area of incidents.
Alex then decided on that plan and divided the Nanites into three parts.
The total amount of Nanites on him = 25 kilos.
1: 10 kilos on him for protection and his use.
2: 10 kilos to be used as batteries and to receive thermal energy from a volcano.
3: 5 kilos to be used to devour metals.
After deciding on a plan of action, Alex let the Nanites hide and go to their locations to perform the duties. The energy Nanites (EN) will be going to the most active volcano on the land, which is a few thousand kilometres away from his location. All Nanites use some kind of unknown technology to share energy among them. The other 5 kilos of metal devouring Nanites (MDN) will go to the south of his location, a few states away and start their plan from there.
The Nanites will reach the airport and hide in their respective destined planes and reach their destination any possible way. It will take a few days for them to reach their destination and start the plan termed.
