Chapter 6: of chapter 6
mr Arthur and her daughter Lillian were
sitted in the dinning eating breakfast in
their beautiful mansion when Arthur
told her daughter about her leave to
London.
"Lillian! Mr Arthur called I'm planning on
sending you to London next month"
" London? why father?"she asked
surprised. of course she travels to any
country of her choice for vacation and
since she was through with her
education last two years, she has
devoted her time in the family business.
"it's nothing daughter! I think it's
important for the growth of our
company and the union of....
"what are you saying father?" she asked
confused.
Mr Arthur adjusted removing his glasses he said.
" Edward! the Don's family son has asked for your hand in marriage".
Lillian stared motionless at her father not believing that.
"is there a problem?" Arthur asked on noticing she didn't respond nor react.
"no father! she answered
" is just that I'm full".she lied standing up I will be in my room"
"think about it carefully"Arthur said and stood up taking his car keys.
Lillian walked to hee room and slammed the door heavily and that gave the door a crack as it is made of glass.
"Edward!! she called and that name irritated her.
Edward and Lillian were childhood lovers and friends as both family are very close. Lillian loved Edward then so as Edward but Edward only Loved her as a sister. unknown to Edward about Lillian feeling towards him he loved and dated another girl he gave her all the care and attention but the girl died when they were in highschool. after the death of Edward young lover, Lillian let out her feelings to Edward shamelessly. Edward didn't buy in the idea but after much care and talk he decided to give in to her and they became lovers. after highschool Edward left to study medicine in London as well as to take over his father's company when he comes of age since he is the heir.
on departing Lillian begged Edward to reject the offer or run away with her but Edward refused.
"I know it will be hard for you Lillian, but bear with me I will definitely come back" those were Edward words as he was preparing to leave.
"no! Lillian nodded they are better things
here! Lillian tried convincing him. if you go then I won't wait for you! I will kill myself"she threatened.
" then go ahead! Edward answered out of anger and hurt how could you say you won't wait! he yelled Don't wait! kill yourself! and make sure you forget me because I will definitely forget you and all our memories he said and left in anger. thinking he will return to apologise but unfortunately he left the next day.
"coward!! Lillian cursed remembering all that happened. you disgust me.
"now you want to marry me? you want us to have an affair?" she asked smiling.
" you didn't care what my father went through all these years and what i went through! being depressed because of you!!! "I hate you!!!!!" she shouted.
"ok definitely we will be together again"she said walking towards the door then she stopped. " and I promise you just as this door has a crack, I will crack and shatter your life in a thousand pieces. my a promise". she angrily said giving a devilish laugh.
she wiped her tears with the back of her palm and phoned her dad's office.
"hello this is Lillian Arthur on line I want to talk to my father it's urgent she said.
"forwarding"...
"hello Father she called
" yes! mr Arthur answered wondering why her daughter have to call.
"did you say Edward and I are getting married? she asked.
" why didn't you ask that at home?"
"I'm sorry Dad I didn't understand! I mean I was dumbstruck because I was too excited".
" wow! that's great then! mr Arthur answered smiling. it's not a marriage for the now but we trust God it will lead to that it's courting. you know it's been long since he left for London so, it's necessary you guys get to know each other afresh again since many things might have changed. he explained smiling joyfully.
"of course! Lillian answered smiling.
"ok please hang up I have an appointment right now".
" yes! she ended the call.
"it is good it will happen this way because, I will make sure I leave you in a state no one will like to have you again.
she said piercing the apple in front of her.
mr Arthur returned in the evening and after dinner Lillian picked the conversation again.
" father why not marriage directly? she asked resting her head on her father's lap.
"listen dear like what I said earlier it's necessary you guys get to know each other again" I'm very sure Edward will be Happy to have you back.
"yes of course she smiled after all I'm his one and only queen". my beautiful and knowledge surpassed that of all the girls he might have met".
mr Arthur looked at her daughter and smiled. " while you are there you will be helping him in the business to aviod any mistake".
" sure! she answered planning all she will do to him.
Edward does know about the business but only to an extent he is still learning some part of it.he is a good leader and the main aim of sending Lillian there,to Mr Sylvester is to encourage Edward in staying in the company he is talking of leaving since business didn't get his interest. so, Mr Sylvester believes that Lillian will be able to convince him since they have been friends all this while maybe if their relationship come alive again she will definitely keep him to the company.
while Mr Arthur is concerned about his daughter happiness the most since Lillian has Loved Edward all this years he believes this will be a good way to bring them back together and fire up their love again.
"ok sweetie come on go to bed! I have some work to do" mr Arthur said.
Lillian pegged her Dad and went straight to her room.
