"I was cursed by my own grandfather for trying to stop him make deals with the devil. His name was Natalio. He ended up getting tortured to death by his ancestors because he used his magic for bad purposes.", said Majencio, Alistair's friend. "He was a very powerful Necromancer. I'm sure you'll get an answer by looking through his grimoire.", informed Majencio while leading them into his grandfather's study.
"Thank you Majencio, I really appreciate your help.", said Orla gratefully.
"Oh, it's nothing! By the way, may I ask why you need to know all of this?", asked Majencio.
"My brother's girlfriend is a Necromancer and she is trying to hurt him.", explained Orla.
"Thanks Maj. We can look through this. You can go to practice.", said Alistair.
"You're sending me off mate? I don't blame you for wanting to be alone with your girlfriend.", teased Majencio.
"It's nothing like that. He only said it because you are running late for practice.", described Orla.
"Anyways be careful in there. A lot of things there are enchanted, and you might see a lot of unusual things.", Magencio stated.
"What kind of unusual things?", Alistair asked.
"Apparitions are very common. You might hear a prophecy from some kind of ghost. You might witness events of the past that you never knew happened. If you're very unlucky you might even encounter a demon somewhere in here.", he mentioned.
"On second thought, maybe you shouldn't actually leave Maj.", Alistair suggested.
"Yeah that's what I thought.", Majencio chuckled.
Majencio brought out Natalio's grimoire and asked Orla what she actually wanted.
"Is there anything written about lifting curses?", she asked.
"Yes there is a chapter on 'Methods of Lifting a Necromancer's Curse', Topics include the removal of a witch's hex, reversing of the werewolf curse, breaking the animagus curse, and lifting the siren's curse.", he informed.
"Orla, do you wanna play a game with me.", asked Oistin with a devious smile on his face.
"Yeth!", answered a three-year-old Orla.
"Okay then. You wait here at this window. When I tell you, you are going to jump down and I'm going to catch you! Sounds fun?!", asked Oistin.
"Thass gonna be so muth fun!", exclaimed Orla as she giggled.
"Okay then Orla! Down you come! Jump!", shouted Oistin excitedly.
In the swiftest motion, their mother Claudia had swept Orla off the window sill and in her arms.
"Why would you do that? Why would you do that?!", Claudia sobbed.
She had wet Orla's dress with her tears. Claudia closed up all the windows of her room, turned on Orla's favorite television show, and locked the door of the room. Then she stomped downstairs to find Oistin.
"Orla? Orla? Are you alright?", Alistair asked worriedly.
"Hm?", Orla said, quite stunned and out of breath.
"You should sit down. Do you need some water?", Alistair asked.
Orla didn't answer. Instead, she cried. She had never felt such a feeling of betrayal before. Had her own brother really tried to kill her? She couldn't stop crying.
"I'm guessing you saw something terrible. It's all because of the enchantments. If you're facing difficulty here you can borrow the grimoire and return it once you're done.", Majencio insisted.
"You say we could have visions of events of the past we didn't know existed. How do we verify the authenticity of these events in the visions?", asked Orla.
"All the visions you see informing you about events of the past are always true. Visions of the future might be false as the future can change. However the past cannot change and thus whatever visions you see is the exact thing that happened.", told Majencio.
"I can't take this.", Orla mumbled and started bawling her eyes out.
Alistair patted her back trying to comfort her, but she didn't stop for a good 15 minutes.
"I'm so sorry about this. It's best for me to just go home. I'll take this with me.", Orla said while picking up Natalio's grimoire.
"I'll walk you home.", Alistair mentioned.
"You don't need to.", Orla said.
"I'll still do it.", Alistair persisted.
Orla felt so thankful to Alistair. He was the only person she could be vulnerable in front of without feeling ashamed. Still felt hella embarrassed that Majencio was there though.
"Take care of yourself. I'll see you tomorrow.", Alistair said showcasing the most comforting smile.
Orla's heart started beating faster. Was this anxiety or was this what she thought it was? Was Alistair making her heart do somersaults?
