"Isla" Someone called her the minute she stepped outside.
Isla turned back to see who it was. She saw her uncle walking over to her.
"Isla has been looking for Lady Fiona everywhere."
"I guess you haven't heard. Lady Fiona left yesterday. Her family asked for her. I guess it is an emergency."
"Hmm then it is definitely an emergency if they called her back, but I hope it's nothing serious," he said.
"Who is that?" Oliver asked with his gaze locked on something.
"Who?" She asked back.
"He," he nodded to something behind her.
Isla turned to look "I don't know much, only his name I know of"
The person they were talking about was walking around the premises with such elegance like he owned the place.
"What is it?" Oliver inquired
"Devon. Devon Balthazar." Isla said simply.
Oliver shifted his eyes to her. Isla could feel his gaze on her and she involuntarily look at him.
"Like I said, I don't know more. If you want to know him then you should meet papa, he seem to know more."
"Papa?" Oliver asked, confused.
"Yes. Papa approved of him, I can't really put my finger on it."
"Alright I will speak to him" he nodded to her and walked away with a frown.
Isla shrugged her shoulders and continued her journey to the well, hoping what happened the previous time won't repeat itself.
If it does then she would have to blame her fate.
She was fetching the water. It was half full.
"Isla!" She heard a faint voice, it was inaudible and Isla doubted her sanity. She continued her activity.
"Isla!" The video called again, a bit clearer. She moved back and looked back.
She saw someone coming from a distance. The person walked gracefully, the familiarity of the figure made her hold her breath.
She had been waiting to see the person for like forever. Now that her uncle was back, so was he.
"Isla it's been a while," the person smiled. Isla's heart beat as she saw the captivating face.
Walking closer, she stretched her hands and touched his hair, caressing his face.
"Come let's go inside," he took her hand and carried the water she was fetching moments ago.
He brought her into her quarters. He looked around while nodding his head.
"I have never stepped feet in your quarters before. It's good and welcoming I must say," he raised his eyes to the roof "it's quite high but it's also understandable," he moved his eyes back to her "So tell me, did you miss me?"
Isla saw how he waited for her answer, he was fully aware of what her response would be and she didn't want to go with his expectation "Umm missing you is one thing while missing your company is another."
"Hmm I believe they are all the same"
"No they are not," she shook her head in disagreement.
"So which is it?" He asked.
"Well... The thing is I do miss you but you shouldn't be so sure if I missed you enough besides, did you miss me?"
"I missed you more than I expected too. I miss you everyday and every night."
Isla's eyes widened with the word every night. What did he mean by that?.
He saw her surprised look, he could not help but chuckled "I missed escorting you back to your quarters every evening Isla. Now stop the wild thoughts," he smiled teasingly.
She walked over to him. She stroked his hair lovingly.
"You got me, however that doesn't stop the fact that you left me here."
"Are you telling me you miss me then?"
"Yes of course. I've missed you a lot. I missed your smile, your presence, your company and most of all, I missed YOU," She hugged him tightly, unlike her uncle. She pressed her body to him intimately.
He smiled and wrapped his arms around her, squeezing her closer. Her stomach growled with the impact, disturbing the affectionate moment.
He pulled away and laughed softly to it "Oh how I've missed laughing like this." He said with a smile.
"Then you should have come back sooner," Isla said.
"I know and I'm sorry for the delay," he said sincerely.
"It's okay. You went for a purpose anyway" Isla became thoughtful "What exactly happened during your journey? Uncle wouldn't tell me."
"Well I believe your uncle is keeping it from you for a reason"
"Whatever that reason is, it won't be that serious to keep it from his most precious."
"You always act spoiled around him."
"I can't help it, okay?" She shrugged.
He shook his head with a smile "I should get going now. It's getting late and it is not advisable for me to stay in your quarters late."
Isla nodded her head in understanding "Alright. If you must," she gave him a nod and he walked out.
Isla sighed. It was getting late and she hadn't eaten yet. She made something light and healthy before going to bed.
She was finally happy now that her loved ones were back, Lady Fiona is the only one missing out. With the way things happened, it was like they were a replacement for her. She shook her head to disapprove of the thought. Lady Fiona would never be replaced, just like the three people in her life had their places, a special place. So does lady Fiona.
She hoped she got home safely, considering the distance from the capital to the small village. It was quite much to be precise.
