Chapter 15: Job Hunting Plans

A lot of these items were not equipped because he had already equipped the ones he needed so these were the items he wanted to sell.

During this time he had managed to kill lots of beasts and leveled up more than once so the day was not wasted in the slightest.

Chen could tell that it was already nightfall back at home and he had been in-game for the entire day. He hadn't taken breakfast or lunch.

He decided to log out at this point. Wherever one logged out in the game was also where they would spawn upon re-entry.

Chen had decided he would find a way to sell the items later.

His sight turned white as his mind was being pulled out of the game.

in the next moment, he found himself within the pod once more.

Immediately after he arrived back, he felt thirst once more and not even hunger. But Chen knew he had to eat to keep Pete's body in a good state of health. It was already bad that he kept skipping meals.

He got out of the pod and headed for his door. It was around 8 pm at the moment so his entire room was dark but he knew exactly how many paces to move before he arrived at his door without bumping into anything.

Chen walked down the stairs very slowly as he assumed Remi was already asleep at this point and didn't want to wake her.

Trrrrrhhh~ Trrrrrrhhh~

Trying to climb down the stairs without making any sound proved ineffective as they made creaking noises. It was almost as if the stairs choose to be noisy whenever someone was trying to move silently on them.

"Big brother," A voice suddenly called out to him from behind when he was a step closer to reaching the ground floor.

"Remi," Chen showed a wry smile as he slowly turned around.

The place was dimly lit due to the electrical issues but Chen could spot her pouting face from down there.

"Big brother you spent the entire day in game! Your food went cold! How can you have so much disregard for your health?" She scolded as she walked down the stairs.

"Erm... I lost track of time..." Chen voiced with an apologetic tone.

"Hmph!" Remi arrived before him and pulled his hand while heading toward one of their chairs in the living room.

She pushed him to sit and proceeded to head into the kitchen.

-A few minutes later

"Haaa," Remi voiced out while pushing a spoonful of food towards Chen's mouth as he sat.

"You don't have to do this Remi, I can feed myself," Chen said with a slight tone of embarrassment.

"Big brother, open your mouth," She commanded with a tone that left no room for argument.

Chen opened his mouth after seeing her unyielding expression and she began to feed him.

The night after Chen finished his food was spent in game as he wanted to grind more before he went to work the next morning.

In a flash, four days had gone by and Chen had already spent more than a week in this new world.

It was currently daytime and Chen at work but he would be taking the day off tomorrow.

He and Arjun were on the same shift today and they had been chatting while working together.

"Is it me or you're starting to add a little more skin to your pretty boy body," Arjun voiced as he lifted four bags of sugar and placed them on his shoulders.

"Well, I've been spending more time working out lately so maybe..." Chen responded as he also picked up four bags of sugar.

Both of them walked side by side as they headed to the truck outside.

"Wow pretty boy Pete is working out... man you're about to cause major instability in the city," Arjun said with a hyped-up tone.

"Instability? how?" Chen questioned.

"You already look drop-dead gorgeous and now you wanna add a godly body to the fray... leave some girls for the rest of us, my lord," Arjun responded with a complimenting and teasing tone.

"Hahaha you have a wife, stay loyal," Chen stated with a reminding tone.

"Damn that's true I am no longer a bachelor hahaha," Arjun replied while both of them laughed cheekily.

The day was already coming to an end and their shift would be ending in two hours but both of them were almost done with their work for the day due to their speed.

Everyone was still wondering what Pete was on seeing as he kept lifting four bags of sugar in one go. They recalled only a week ago he could barely lift two and now he was lifting four.

While many strong workers carry that much on a daily basis they still couldn't wrap their head around how he was able to since Pete was seen as the weakest worker.

Chen and Arjun spent the rest of the two hours chatting with each other before the day finally came to an end.

"Are you sure you're good man?" Arjun questioned while still holding out a 100$ bill to Pete.

"Yes Arjun, I swear I'm fine for now you don't have to worry. Use this to buy something for Cecil or more baby things," Chen said while tapping Arjun's hand with a smile.

"Hmm... are you sure you're not just deciding not to collect this from me because of what you owe?" Arjun voiced with a suspicious tone.

"Haha don't worry Arjun, if I need I promise I'll ask," Chen stated with a light chuckle.

"Alright then," Arjun said while putting the bill back in his pocket.

Chen was managing in the meantime and already had plans in place to get some cash soon so he wasn't looking to bother Arjun in any way.

He and Arjun parted ways at this point as Arjun hopped on the back of a truck home. Chen was still bewildered and wondered how Arjun managed to keep this up while taking care of his pregnant wife.

He wondered how such a person with a wonderful heart could exist while he recalled that back on the earth where he came from, humans were vicious and selfish.

Surely no one in Arjun's situation would be willing to help Pete over and over again. There were even richer people who were more capable of helping others but if they ever came across a case like Pete's they wouldn't care enough to help.

"I promise to repay all of this on behalf of Pete one day," Chen swore to himself before proceeding to head home.

Minutes later Chen arrived home. The electricity had been restored because Chen had made use of the extra fifty bucks he got from the bathroom incident to pay part of the rent for the month.

He was only owing a little bit now and he already made plans on how to take care of the rest.

"I need to find a new job... I could go for an interview tomorrow since it's gonna be my day off," Chen decided as he moved upstairs to his room.

He decided to take a shower and change from his round-neck shirt and shorts before leaving the house.

Pete didn't have more than three wears so he put on his faded brown hoodie and black jeans once more.

"Big brother, don't take too long outside, you know the streets are not safe," Remi voiced as she stood in front of him at the door.

"Don't worry, I'll be back in an hour or two... at most 9 pm," Chen voiced out as he waved while moving further away from the apartment.

It was around past 7 in the night at this time and Chen was currently heading to an Internet café to check for job interviews he could go on now that he was supernatural.

Despite not being very strong, Chen still met the requirements for being a supernatural so he was privy to more options now.

Since he would be having the entire day to himself tomorrow, he planned to go job hunting. The only thing left to do was to actually check for profitable places he could work on the Internet so he wouldn't be moving around headlessly when tomorrow arrived.

Playing Overworld and increasing his rank would have to wait in the meantime. He had decided that after he got back from the Internet café, he would log in to Overworld and grind for the entire night.
