Chapter 2: A Voice
POV: Aesir
" I can't believe you can create such an enchanted item. This is unbelievable, how did you learn it." Calen asked, he was shocked which I had expected since it's something that no enchanter in the world other than me could make.
" I learned something special from what grandpa had left behind for me. It would be better if you don't tell the world about it." I said.
" You didn't tell anyone else about it, did you?" Calen asked me in a serious voice, all of the research by my grandpa had already been confiscated by the Wizard association. However, they didn't get something major like what I did.
After his death, Calen came to me and gave me a ring that my grandpa had left behind for me. It turned out to be a rather rare enchanted item that could store anything as long as it's not alive or has mana inside of it. As for how I knew about this is because grandpa had once told me about it and also about what was inside of it.
The ring has all of the research that he had done in his life as a wizard and some rather important items. It didn't have any magical tools or legendary items inside of it but it was still more precious than that.
To use this ring, I just have to imagine the item's appearance while pressing the gem over the ring with my thumb. I kept it a secret even from Calen so I thought he might be a little angry at me for not telling him about this before but he showed no such reactions.
" Are you angry that I hid it even from you?" I asked out of curiosity.
" This belonged to you, there is no way I would be angry. You were the most important person in my master's life, also, he gave me something good as well." Calen said as he picked up the magic staff that was laying on his bench.
It was a wooden staff with a bluish green crystal over it, the staff on the upper end looked like claws that were grabbing the crystal tightly. Some rune enchantments over it proved that it was an enchanted item.
" You know Calen, he told me that this used to belong to the chief of the wizard association, did they not force you to give them the wand," I asked.
" It's more than that, it's one of the nine legendary treasures of the ancient empire. They would have taken it from me but there are people in the wizard association who are still loyal to the master and respect his wishes, They defended me and made others agree that I should be its owner. Don't worry though, there will be one day I become worthy of this and nobody could take it from me."
" Now, let me show you what this mask is capable of," I spoke and put the mask over my face and almost instantly I felt the mask disappearing and merging over my face.
My shiny silver-white hair turned black and, my blue jewel eyes became dark brown. The bright skin became paler and with just a slight change in the facial structure, I made myself look like a less attractive version of myself not changing my face too much as I didn't feel comfortable about it.
" You still look good, although you should have stayed the way you were before," Claire said to me.
" Don't tell anyone about this, I would rather not get myself involved with the chosen ones and with others trying to take advantage of me."
" We understand that Aesir, I hope you can live peacefully here," Calen said as he extended a hand, it was very formal like he was making a deal that he would not reveal my secret and I would try to keep myself away from getting involved from the matters of the politics or wizard association.

I was in the room assigned to me, it was one of the bigger buildings outside of the tower. It has been turned into a dormitory for the students to live in, as per our discussion I was assigned a room like a normal student. There was one more separate bed, cupboard, desk, and everything else we needed here to live.
The entire island has been turned into an academy so how I knew it from the past doesn't matter. This place is something that feels completely different, this is not the same island.
I jumped over my bed to go to sleep, but suddenly I had a feeling of unease, and the cause of this uneasiness was definitely on my finger. The ring felt hot, and I could feel it vibrating, I pressed the gem on the ring and tried to check what was happening.
Suddenly a beam of light left the ring and there was a box in front of me. I was surprised since grandpa never told me about this kind of box being inside the ring and why would it suddenly come out of the ring. I already knew what was inside that's why I never checked for something else being there.
Many things were confusing about this situation whether or not I should open this box, and why it suddenly made the ring vibrate. There has never been a situation where something like that ever actually happened.
" Oye Aesir! Take me out of the box!" Someone shouted, I am sure the voice came out from the box but how could it be possible? And it also said my name, how can it be possible that whatever is inside of it know my name?
I had a hard time deciding as it can be something dangerous. This may be the reason why he never told me about this before. Also if it can speak then it must be alive, how can it be possible when the ring is not capable of storing any living things or anything with mana inside of it?
