Returning Home
POV: Aesir
Three years ago everything changed in my life, I had considered my life to be always filled with happiness and hope. However, when I faced the despair and reality of this world, my delusion about life was broken. There is something that I came to understand about being alive, it is that you have to face the challenges of life and you have to overcome them again and again.
Several thoughts were running through my mind as I saw the majestic wizard tower and the buildings surrounding it. All of it was part of one single academy, currently, I was in the air over a ship that was flying towards the wizard tower. This was not the first time I was here, I remember all of this from three years ago. This island has been completely turned into an academy to raise an army of strong mages and Aura knights in just three years.
" Even though you are starting your academy life, this will be also your official return back home." I heard a voice and turned back, it was a person I can call family, we were not related by blood but he was my brother for as long as I can remember.
" I don't think this is my home anymore, this belongs to the world now," Aesir said. " All of this should have belonged to you, Calen," I added voicing my dissatisfaction.
" This is just a tower, Master never considered it anything more than that," Calen spoke.
" Do you believe that? Grandpa had a bad habit of saying things that he never actually meant." I replied to Calen, he just laughed at my reply and came closer to me, patting my head, it had always been his way of treating me as a little brother.
" You are right about that? He was by far the most bizarre person but you know what, you are also a little similar to him. Saying things that you don't mean, I could easily tell that you are filled with emotions because of returning here." Calen grabbed me and looked directly into my eyes. " Don't let the past hold you back, think about the future, only happiness awaits you in the future."
He was saying some motivational things to cheer me up but I am getting tired of this, everyone telling me to forget the past and move on. This is just not possible, I would always be bound by the shackles of the past because everything was my fault.
" I am trying brother and I am a lot better now," I said with a smile to reassure him.
" I know you are," Calen replied as he finally let go of me.
We were reaching the port where the ship was going to land. Several people were standing there to welcome us, I could see that from the sky. Without making any sound, the ship smoothly landed at the port and at that moment I felt a sudden feeling of nervousness.
" Welcome Home Aesir!" Calen said as he gave me a little push on the back and before I knew it I was walking toward the exit of the ship. Calen followed me from behind and we finally were seeing the people who came to greet us.
" How are you, everyone?" I said while nervously waving my hand. The others were looking at me with surprised expressions as if they hadn't even recognized me.
" Oh my god, Aesir, I can't believe you became so handsome in just three years." I heard the voice of one of the closest people to my heart. Claire was one of the people who I can call my friend here.
" Just look at him, he sure did." Another person spoke then one by one everyone gave their greetings and expressed their happiness on my return.
I think it was not as bad as I thought and I am glad that I returned here. Meeting them again had at least brought me a little of that happiness back.

" How was it? Meeting everyone after a long time." Calen said as we were currently sitting in an office.
" It was easier than I expected," I replied making him chuckle.
" As you requested your identity will be kept secret here, you will just be Abel," Calen said. " I think it's a good thing that you suggested it, I would have never been able to ask you to do this. You must hide your identity and live a life as a normal student."
" Pfft!" We heard someone giggling and looked toward the one other person who was present in the room. It was Claire, she still hasn't changed much from the last time I had seen her, she had something funny to say back about what Calen just said.
" You have something to say," Calen asked.
" Forgive me, senior, but don't you think that your words don't make sense. How can he act like a normal student in the academy?" Claire answered.
" Elaborate on that!" I asked,
" Have you ever seen yourself in the mirror, please do because I can guarantee that all the girls in the academy will be after you," Claire replied to me, I knew she was going to say something like this, she knew it would make me embarrassed.
" I will wear a mask you don't have to worry, I have read the rules and it's not prohibited to wear one."
" What? We need to change the rules then." She shouted after I told her what I had planned about how I looked.
" Is that really alright, Aesir? You don't have to do it." Calen suggested.
" Didn't you say it yourself that I need to keep a low profile? Besides, you don't have to worry I had already speculated it and thus decided to make an enchanted mask." I replied.
" An enchanted mask, I didn't know you kept on practicing, I thought you were just hell-bent on becoming a swordsman after losing your mana heart," Calen said in a surprised voice but I also sensed that he was happy and proud that I kept learning something mages do, after all, he was my teacher here and had taught me rune enchantment.
" I did, do you want to see what I have made?" I asked, feeling excited about showing something that I made for him.
