Chapter 27: | Cherish The Time

"Reed was right about the wolves," Jedi breathed shakily and Ava turned to face him, her face etched in a grim mask.

"Yes. But he was wrong about me,' Ava responded.

Jedi nodded. His face was streaked with tears as he lifted the scarf from around her neck.

'I saved your brother's life,' Ava said quietly. 'Now help us as you promised and I'll get out of your life forever.'

But Reed had scrambled back to his feet. 'Don't listen to her, you idiot,' he said, his voice reedy, red welts rising on his throat. 'We've got to make her talk—'

Jedi hit him hard on the chin, and Reed went down and stayed down.

"There is nothing left to say,' Jedi muttered sadly.
