Chapter 17: Chapter 16 - Kamilaphobia

It was only yesterday that Sona Sitri got her letter from Cebrail and while she very much wanted to stay home to wait for Cebrail's arrival she had already had a tea party scheduled with her friend and rival Rias Gremory which she couldn't miss.

(How would she get to the underworld anyways?) Sona thought as she was led through the Gremory estate towards the back garden by a maid.

It wasn't an unreasonable question. With how Gabriel was she'd probably rather die than let her daughter have to breathe the same air as a Devil. That meant it was likely Cebrail was going to sneak into the Underworld somehow. Sona didn't doubt Cebrail would find a way, when she decided to work she suddenly went from lethargic and lazy to a highly efficient machine.

(I wonder if I should bake her a cake?) Sona thought just as she reached the garden where Rias was already waiting.

"You're finally here Sona!" A young girl with long red hair and big haughty looking blue eyes greeted Sona the moment she reached the center of the garden where chairs and a table were. This of course was Rias Gremory.

"Good morning Rias." Sona greeted back with a small bow and took a seat in front of Rias.

"I'm glad to see you doing so well, I thought for a bit that you might be avoiding me since you haven't contacted me since summer started." As Rias spoke a young girl with almost impossibly long black hair and violet eyes and a very "generous" body for her age came and set down a set of tea cups. This of course was Rias' queen piece Akeno Himejima of the Himejima clan.

"I was busy with our summer homework."

"Eh? Already?"

"What do you mean 'already?' have you not even started yet?" Sona asked incredulously with a raised eyebrow.

"Well I mean no. But like why do I need to do it anyways? What's learning about golems supposed to do for us? It's like math, completely useless in our everyday lives!" Rias complained fervently. She hated school, it was nice that she was often the center of attention due to her beauty and her bloodline but everything else was just annoying. Most of the things they taught were completely beneath her and unnecessary for her future. Or so she thought.

"Whether you like it or not we're required to go to school. And if you get bad grades you'll be scolded by your father again."

Rias frowned at Sona's words. She didn't want to talk about her parents, especially when it came to school so she decided to change the topic. "Maybe if I went to school in the human world I'd have a better time."

"The human world schools teach the same stuff minus all of magic. Making it arguably more boring." Sona reasoned easily destroying Rias' statement as if it were a chocolate bar.

(Chocolate cake with extra chocolate, that's what I'll bake for her.) Sona decided nodding to herself, it had been over a year since she last saw Cebrail so she decided she should treat the Seraphim Princess.

"Yeah but humans in general are so much more fun to be around!"

"Right…"

Sona was obviously skeptical of her words. If she had to guess the reason Rias felt a human school would be better is because they wouldn't know her brother, therefore they wouldn't judge her based on who she's related to as much.

Akeno poured out some tea for the two heiresses when she suddenly paused and stared ahead with slightly widened eyes.

"Huh? Akeno? What's wrong?" Rias made to turn around however Sona saw what Akeno was looking at and quickly reached across the table nearly toppling it over to hold Rias' face forward.

"Rias! Don't look, let's just go get your summer homework done!"Sona yelled, her eyes filled with worry and anxiety.

"What? You'll help me with it?" Rias asked, visibly confused by her current position. While confused she wasn't one to look a gift horse in the mouth, if Sona was going to help her she'd have to accept and do it now no matter how much she wanted to put it off until the last minute.

"Yes! So let's just go up to your room."

"Yes, I'll bring snacks after I 'clean up' out here." Akeno said politely.

Awkwardly the two Devils girls stood with Sona keeping Rias' vision away from what was behind her. Though she herself did give one last glance back and saw that indeed there it was. Something that should not have been able to get anywhere near the main Gremory estate anymore.

It was a camel watching from the hedges.

Finally once the two girls arrived in Rias' room Sona let out a heavy sigh of relief. "You haven't even started right? Do you even know what we're supposed to do for the assignment?"

"Well it has something to do with that big stupid book we got from the teacher right?"

"It's a research paper on golems and the magic used to create them. It's really not that hard."

"It sounds pretty hard~" Rias complained. "How am I supposed to do this thing without reading the book anyways?"

"Fufufu~ Isn't that what the internet is for?" Sona questioned taking her phone out of her pocket and waving it in the air playfully.

"What! Sona you didn't read the books either?" Rias asked flabbergasted by the fact that the honor student Sona Sitri could take the easy road when it came to school work.

"Of course I read the book idiot, I just use the internet to fact check myself." Sona corrected Rias immediately. She pushed up her glasses a bit in an arrogant fashion.

"Typed or-"

"Obviously typed! Seriously, who turns in written work these days?!?"

"A lot of people actually Sona…"

"And what about letters? Who sends letters anymore?"

"????" Rias gave a slightly confused expression, clearly she didn't know why Sona suddenly started talking about letters. "I don't think people send letters anymore?"

"Exactly!" Sona moved around Rias' room grabbing her laptop and booting it up on the bed. "Let's get started already."

Sona suddenly seemed impatient, confusing Rias that much more but still she decided to go along. "Wait a second, I'll open the window."

Rias walked to the window moving to open but just as her hand touched the glass she saw something staring at her from the ground below.

"KYAAAAAAA!!!!!" Rias screamed loudly while taking frantic and clumsy steps backwards until she tripped and fell to the ground.

"Rias! What's wrong!" Sona jumped off of the bed and was quickly by Rias' side. The Gremory heiress was staring at the window with wide fearful eyes not even hearing Sona's words.

"Ms. Gremory!" A few maids burst through the door yelling with worry.

Rias snapping out of her shock pointed to the window frantically. "GO! Go get that disgusting c-c-c-camel out of here this instant!"

"At once Ms. Gremory!" The maids yelled affirming their order and ran to go outside and fulfill their task.

(Why would two camels suddenly appear in places right around Rias? It's as if they were put there on pur-) Sona began thinking only to be interrupted as her gaze wandered upwards and she saw something she wasn't expecting.

Hanging from the ceiling with their arms and legs spread out was a little girl wearing a large and cumbersome looking camel mask.

"Sona? What are you looking-" Rias too looked up before Sona could stop her and upon seeing the stranger above she couldn't even muster a scream instead her eyes rolled into the back of her head and her mouth began foaming as she fainted.

"Ah Rias-" Sona began calling out to the girl however the figure fell onto Rias landing face to face with Sona and stopping the Sitri heiress in her tracks.

"It's nice seeing you again Sona." A somewhat muffled voice came from the mask however it wasn't unfamiliar in fact Sona had been very much hoping to hear soon.

It was the Seraphim Princess Cebrail, the daughter of Gabriel.

"C-Cebrail? What are you doing?" Sona asked forgetting about Rias instantly.

"I told you in my letter didn't I?"

"Err… all you said in your letter was 'sorry for the inconvenience' basically. That's not enough information to even try guessing at what you're going to do."

"Oh, that makes sense…"

"..." Sona stared at her waiting for an elaboration but instead she got another apology.

"Sorry for the inconvenience Sona." Cebrail grappled Sona throwing the older girl over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes before grabbing Rias by the back of her collar.

"Huh? Eh? Eh? Ehhhhhh?!?!?!??" Sona found herself along with Cebrail bursting out of the bedroom window in a flurry of white feathers as Cebrail jumped through high into the sky.

She wasn't flying so much as she had simply jumped extremely high and spread her wings to glide. She just couldn't get used to having extra appendages on her back.

"C-C-CEBRAILLLLL!!!!!!!!" Sona called out in fear but her yells were canceled out as the three girls were enveloped in a pillar of light.
