Shani interpreted Neva’s words as foreign, the idea was so far-fetched. She almost laughed, too. But then she was struck with possibility.

I don’t want to be the future Luna of the Blacktooth pack, she thought. That much she was absolutely sure of. But she hadn’t thought to think beyond that. Do I want to be a Luna at all? Could I be the Luna of…more—better?
