Chapter 63: Unholy Transmutation - Part 23

Despite the morning sun being an almost blinding shade of white, it did absolute shit to warm Angelus up. But he supposed that was where the borderlands saying sprung up from – 'the sun is only a comfort in the south'.

They had left the previous inn and rode before the break of dawn, finally able to make it to the border of Tomiti, even before solar noon. It was funny, though. All of Angelus' memories of Nikolai and Bozhidar's Rodakrov were completely isolated to Castle Mechi – he couldn't remember a single thing about the travel to-and-fro.

Of course, returning to Casteria was much more tedious an adventure than entering, since he was by his lonesome for a long few days of travel. Still, this stretch of Tomitin land elicited from him no memory.

"Isn't it odd that there are no markers, Diego?" He eventually voiced. "The Krovs are known for their painstaking surveying, and yet not a single thing is erected to distinguish what is Casterian from what is Krovic."
