Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Roots of Remorse

The next night, Rowan scaled the wall of the West wing and flipped onto Mila’s balcony. He quietly unlocked the balcony door from outside.

“I can hear you,” Mila warned as he slipped through the door quietly.

Rowan’s heart thudded. He hadn’t expected she would be awake so quickly. However, he was relieved.

Mila laughed. “Now you want to be scared? Give me a break.”

“You’re actually quite scary when you’re mad,” Rowan confessed.

“Alpha? Why are you breaking into my room?”

Rowan’s heart skipped a beat. ‘Why does she look so cute when she’s confused? How the hell am I supposed to keep my distance when I just want to kiss all the worry from her face?’

He shook his head as if to clear his thoughts. He shyly looked at the floor. “I owe you a chance to slap me with a silver gauntlet.”

Mila smirked. “Where is it? I think you’re lying.”
