Chapter 20: Opportunity

"Ah no! I was just planning to go after knocking. I just remembered that I have something important to do. You guys carry on" Andrea blurted out and made a quick U turn to leave the place. But before she could take a step Elliot's voice stopped her.

"Andrea. Come in. The thing I am here for involves you too. You came at a good time. It would save me trouble later" Elliot said in a commanding voice, leaving no other option.

Once Andrea was inside, Elliot repeated his earlier sentence " I want Erena to join the headquarter of Apexi corporation and work as my personal assistant."

"I am sorry. I think it's a little windy today. I am hearing stupid things" Andrea said picking her ears, taking Elliot's words as her imagination.

Elliot looked around the room and closed the damn windows of the room. The he repeated his sentence for the third time tonight.

Andrea looked at Rain and asked " Um.. Erena dear, is there another source of wind in the room. I seem to hear things."

Rain had clearly heard Elliot's words the second time and processed it by the third time. She was the one to answer Andrea this time " You heard it correctly Andrea. Mr. Elliot wants me to work for him in the headquarters."

Elliot gave them some time to let his words to sink in their mind.

Andrea made an "Ohhh" sound, her lips literally making an O shape. After a minute when the words sank in, she supressed her erupting emotions and used her years of experience to sound as calm as possible but when she spoke, he voice still sounded squeaky, "Then what does it have to do with me, Sir?"

" I am letting you know as Erena is working as your assistant right now. It is against my work ethic to poach someone else's people without their consent" Elliot said smiling.

"I don't have any problem with it" came Andrea's reply almost instantly.

"But I have a problem, sir" came Rain's usual monotonous voice. "I need some time to think about your offer."

"I expected this from you. You have tonight to think about it and I want to hear your answer tomorrow morning before your flight back" saying this Elliot left the room. As soon as he closed the door behind him, he heard a loud shrill scream coming from the room which he had no problem recognizing as Andrea's voice.

As soon as Elliot left the room Andrea grabbed Rain's hands and shouted "Are you an idiot? This is such a great opportunity. It is like a handsome prince presenting you with the sweetest desert of the world in a silver platter. Do you know what you do in such a situation, Erena?"

Rain just stood there and looked on as her current boss continued with her blabbering and encouragement about her leaving her current position to grab a new one.

Andrea did not give a chance for Rain to speak as she answered her own question, "You just grab it. You grab the damn plate and gobble the entire desert presented to you. If possible, you gobble the hot prince too. But what did you do? You asked for a night so you can think? Arghh! I am so pissed up right now. I wish I was the one in your place right now. Do you even know how many girls could die just to get what was presented to you? What if Prince Elliot change his mind tomorrow?"

Andrea ruffled her hairs with both hands and began to roam in the room as if her world was crumbling down. "No, No, No… we cannot let that happen. Let me tell you Erena, if you miss this opportunity because of your stupidity then it's over between us. It is such a huge opportunity for you. Listen to me, pick up the phone, call Mr. Elliot and tell him that you agreed. Or even better, let's chase him. He might still be here in the hotel let's chase him. Andrea grabbed Rain's hand once again and began pulling her towards the door.

Rain stopped her. "I really need to think about accepting this offer, Andrea. I will answer him tomorrow morning" she said.

"Did you even hear what I said just now, Erena. Are you even human?" Andrea almost shouted. "And what is with your face. What are you thinking? Why don't you show any expressions, huh? While I teach my subordinates to have a business face, I have to nag you to show some expressions on your face to let us know what you are thinking? Why are you always like this?" Andrea had a headache now due to her idiotic subordinate whom she began to treat as one of her closest friends.

"I really have to think it through Andrea. You know my situation. Last year have been quite unsettling for me. It brought many changes that I am still coping with it. And you know I never got a formal education because of my father's possessiveness. Now that I got such a huge offer suddenly, I am quite anxious. Let me think it through the night with a calm mind please" Rain lied.

Andrea took a deep breath, trying to supress her raging emotions as she said "Fine. I understand your feelings. But you better think it through. It is a great opportunity which seldom knocks on door. Grab it while you can dear. Trust me, it will change your life for better" saying this Andrea left the room to give Rain some privacy to sort out her thoughts.
