Chapter 7: Chapter 7: The Agreement

Zale’s POV

“Zale?” She asks, concerned, “What happened? Are you hurt?”

I shake my head vigorously at her, telling her that I'm not. She walks toward me with her hands stretched out, and I panic. I don’t want her to touch me. I don’t want anyone to touch me! I just want to be left alone. So I push her out of the way and walk into the adjoining room that turns out to be a bathroom.

Taking a hard look at my reflection, I can barely stand the sight before I have to turn and look away. How has the night turned out to be so horrible? All I wanted to do was transfer the status of my future mate from Leona to Adeline. That was all.

I don’t need to be plagued with those haunts from my past. No. I won’t be. I steel my resolve and splashed my face with some cold water.

“Rest. All I need is some rest.”
