Chapter 7: Charity Banquet
Angelina was working quietly after finishing Jackson's chapter. But it appears that she was bothered by something. She pulls open the drawer and examines the charity banquet invitation. "Please clear my entire schedule for tonight. We're going to the attend charity banquet, and you'll be joining me." Angelina phoned her assistant's number.
"Got it, boss," Lucy answered the phone on the other end.
Angelina pushed those complicated thoughts to the back of her mind and concentrated solely on her work.
"We need to get ready for the charity banquet, boss," Lucy informed her boss.
Lucy knew that once her boss got into the work, she would lose track of time.
Angelina nodded at the reminder before closing the file and carefully setting it aside.
It took them about an hour to get to the charity banquet venue. Angelina and her assistant exited the car after arriving at the venue.
She was dressed elegantly in a red maxi dress with a v-neck that complemented her perfect body figure, and she walked elegantly to the venue's entrance. In her closed-toe silver high heels, she appears tall. Her long black hair was styled in waves. Her bold red lips and black liner were drawn into sharp sharp cat eyes that made her look more mesmerizing.
Whoever looked at her, stunned by her beauty and followed her every move. They couldn't take their eyes off her. It was as if she was their sole source of existence for them at that very moment.
Some of the women became envious. They began to compare themselves to Angelina.
Lucy shook her head as she saw this. She knew that her boss was a great beauty who could captivate others with a glance.
"I don't see any fun here," Angelina said, looking around the banquet.
"What kind of fun are you expecting here, boss?" Lucy said as passed the wine glass to her boss.
Angelina accepted it and took small sip small sip of her drink. Her lips appear bright red as if stained by red wine.
"Good to see you, Miss Hunt." A middle-aged woman and a group of wealthy ladies approached her.
"Hello, Mrs. Smith, it's great to see you too," Angelina said, her lips arcing into a beautiful smile. Lucy could tell by the smile on Angelina's face that her boss had found a target who could entertain her at this banquet.
"I heard you don't do any charity work. This time time you must have changed your mind because your heart hurts for those poor people." Mrs. Smith smiled as she said this.
Angelina tilted her head to face the woman in front of her. She could tell what she was up to. "I apologize for disappointing you. But I'm not here to donate."
"Oh dear, how could you not give those poor people a small portion of the money you earn?"Mrs. Smith clamped a hand over her mouth and gasped in disbelief.
"How could you be so stingy?" One of the women who accompanied Mrs. Smith stated.
"There's no need for any of you to misunderstand Miss Hunt. This has to be for a reason." Mrs. Smith said as if she was speaking in Angelina's favor.
"What could she possibly have to justify not helping others? You will earn good karma by doing good work, but it appears that she did not realize this." They began to chastise her.
"You are correct, Mrs. Smith. This year, I've decided to contribute." Angelina said this with a devilish grin on her lips.
"That reminds me of your husband's desire to strike a deal with me. We have agreed on a profit split of forty and sixty percent. But now it appears that I am short of money."
"Lucy made changes to the contract," she said to her assistant. "Profit sharing should be split fifty-fifty. That ten percent of the profit will be donated."
Mrs. Smith and the other wealthy ladies were taken aback when they heard this. Mrs. Smith's face darkened, "What does it mean?"
"I'm just trying to accumulate some good karma. One of your friends told me that doing good deeds one will earn good karma." Angelina said this with an innocent expression on her face.
"Miss Hunt, you can't joke with such kinds of things. How could you make changes in the contract so casually." Mrs. Smith spoke as if she was attempting to control her rage.
"Allow me to offer you some advice," Angelina said with a solemn expression, "I'm not one of your wealthy ladies. Even your husband has enough sense not to mess with me. But it appears that he has bad luck because of his foolish wife."
"I am not like you who need to gain the favor of their husband to get some money from them," Angelina said, looking around at the other wealthy ladies. "I also don't have to be concerned about some mistress stealing my position. I work hard for my money and build my reputation without any support. So, before you mess with someone, you should consider your position."
"I hope you can tell your husband about the change in the contract," she said softly as she approached Mrs. Smith.
Mrs. Smith dug her heels into the ground. She had realized that messing with this woman had been her biggest mistake.
Angelina walked away from the group of wealthy ladies after teaching them a valuable lesson.
"Have you heard that the superstar movie king is also going to attend this event?" There appears to be some commotion at the party.
Angelina felt exhausted after dealing with those ladies and decided to take some rest in the resting area.
"Boss, it seems like some superstar is also going to attend this charity banquet." Lucy informed her.
"If you want to meet that superstar, you can go and take a look," she said after settling into a comfortable position on the couch." Who knows, maybe you like him."
Lucy pursed her lips after hearing her reply. "Boss, why don't you go take a look? You might find him attractive and be interested in him."
"Hmm, perhaps. But I don't believe so." Angelina responded sluggishly.
A loud knock at the door interrupted their conversation.
Lucy stood up to see who was at the door. When she looked at the person at the door, she was taken aback.
"May I speak with Miss Hunt?" The man said with a polite smile.
