Chiaki woke up to a wafting smell of an allium-rich dish. Her mouth watered as her eyelids were open, adjusting her eyes to the dimmed light of her bedroom. The wooden bedposts were fragrant, imparted a sense of familiarity to her. Instantly, she felt safe for recognising she was still in the Sentalu house, the guest bedroom where she had stayed for months.
What happened?
Recalling the sparring that went wrong, she mentally took inventory of her body. Did anything feel weird? She tried to cough up like hacking her lungs out to see if there was internal bleeding. It was the technique stored in old Chiaki's mind that she could find to save her life.
