I didn't care that I didn't know who I was.

I didn't care about the memory.

What mattered was the present.

Those were the lies I had told myself over and over again while I lived without the knowledge of knowing who I was, where I was from, or who my family were if I ever had one.

It had been easier to just pretend that I didn't care, give myself convincing lies to back it up, than to waste away thinking of what I was possibly missing by the lack of my memory. 

But my lies always made themselves known to be nothing but empty words anytime there was the slightest opportunity for me to get back what I had lost.

I wanted to know.

My entire being jumped at it and I could slightly feel a headache from living without it for so long. 

Of course, I wanted to know. 

I hadn't even spoken before Ru smiled, reached for my hand, and took me round the corner and Malik followed.
