Chapter 251: Loved Ones

CRASH!!
A banging crash noise resounded heavily in his ears and his eyes couldn't open more wider. Alex stood helplessly and unable to move an inch as he watched a speeding truck moving towards his girls.
For a second, he did regret being too reckless and exposing himself to the enemies, which would lead to people around him being targeted as well.
Plus, he was still weak and recently became an incubus, so protecting others in critical times wasn't something he could do.
"...?"
Fortunately, those thoughts came to his mind after watching Liza, the succubus queen, effortlessly turned around and stopped the large vehicle with one hand.
Despite the truck moving so fast, Liza's danger sensors were alert and she was powerful enough to avoid any causality.
Protecting Jane and other people around, and not leaving that any visible damage to the structure of the vehicle. It looked as it was before the impact.
That was pretty impressive!
"W-What happened?!"
"That truck almost hit that girl!"
"Someone call the police! That driver deserves to rot in jail!"
To other humans around who were grasping in disbelief and as well as anger, thanks to the succubus, it looked like it stopped with hard and sudden brakes, just before it hit the teacher.

Alex was still frozen solid in his place, while finally taking some air into his lungs. He breathed relief and stared at the two girls checking on the safety of each other.
Everything turned out fine, but that wasn't the case for him... He couldn't protect his loved one. If it wasn't for Liza, Jane would have been lying still on the ground.
Recalling all the time he spent with Liza and every time, she was the life-saver, while he just stood powerlessly.
Now that he was no longer a human, rather an incubus, he had no excuses to give himself for just freezing in his place.
Just fear immobilized him in his spot. Taking a deep breath and raising his eyes to ogle at the cloudy sky, while clinching his hands into fists.
It went on for several good minutes.
"Heeey! Are you daydreaming in the middle of the streets??"
"Are you okay, darling?"
And soon the two girls rushed hurriedly to him, after Jane finished talking with the driver who seemed too drunk to understand her complaints.
Still, he was held by a couple of law enforcements, as they took the incident to their side.
"Ahh...Yeah, what about you? You're not hurt anywhere, right?..."
Returning his gaze down at the anxious-looking girls and slightly smiling at the two. Tapping on their shoulders and checking up on their safety.
"Really? You just seem a bit worked out, but I'm happy you're alright! You saw how cool this succubus was?! She stopped a speeding truck with one hand!
After assuring her darling was physically fine, Jane clung into his arm and admiringly praised Liza on her side, while slightly putting out a teasing tone.
As for her darling, his response was full of nods and light smiles. However, Jane just carried on with her playful chatting.
"Hum?..."
On the other side, Liza carefully stared at him, before raising her hand. The succubus wasn't too dense to not understand what was ruining the mood.
She formed her small delicate hand into a fist and lightly punched his stomach, causing him to startledly switch eyes on her with a dumbfounded expression.
Nonetheless, looking at her serious face and powerful pink eyes immediately made him understand the situation.
"Don't let your guard down again! Be sure there will be a next time, you will improve!"
Uttering with a strong tone, Liza punched his stomach again, but tried to cheer him up in her unique way.
Her encouraging words seemed to work well and Alex smiled in an agreement, since he rarely received such auspicious comments, but her latter statement made him involuntarily frown.
"What do you mean there will be a next time? Was this planned?..."
Thinking about it further, Alex found it strange for trucks to be speeding in a crowded street and in school zones. However, everyone said the driver was kind of drunk.
"Most likely, the driver is definitely not drunk, I sense demonic energy in his body"
Turning her head towards the driver, who was still held up by the police and being interrogated. He was finally waking up just to appear confused about what was happening.
Undoubtedly, he wouldn't just sober up that quickly if he was intoxicated. It was bit odd.
Plus, Liza could sense a faint demonic energy fading off his head. Alex could also sense it and that was enough proof that the incident wasn't reckless behavior.
"R-Really?? But who is trying to kill us? Rather, me! You told me no one can see you, so were they targeting me??"
Upon understanding the two's conversations, Jane jumped into it too and with a stunned yet worried expression.
Liza already bragged about how no one could see her and she could do whatever she wanted. That left her to be the only apparent target.
"Unfortunately, yes. I think we are being toyed with now... The first ones to reveal their cards are the losing. These cunning bastards, I will burn them in hell!"
Liza uttered with a low voice, while her eyes glistened with anger. It was rare to see her upset, but was also relieving having someone powerful as her beside them.
"I promise to protect you, always"
Alex clinched his hand into a fist, before unfolding it back to a palm, rubbing Jane's back and assuring her with a gentle smile. Her worry immediately faded and her beautiful face bloomed a smile.
Seeing the two care immensely about her made her less nervous.
She knew the world was too big and humans weren't the only creatures inhabiting and since of all humans around, her darling is an incubus. That made it more logical.
"I trust you, darling! Thanks! Come on, let's head to the cafe already"
After hugging the two, Jane didn't forget about their destination. She pulled up her facemask again and held their hands and immediately began happily walking.
'Isn't she cute? You need to keep her safe'
Looking at Jane's back as she hurriedly pulled them forward, Liza's serious face was now replaced with a gentle one as smiled at Alex on the side.
"I will. Trust me"
Responding with a nod and a determined look on his handsome face.
"..."
For an instant, he glanced up at one of the nearby buildings, but soon jerked his head back. It seemed his whole aura changed for a very powerful one as he promised to protect his loved ones.

"What in the hell happened just now... Did I understimate him too much?..."
Meanwhile, on the rooftop of a nearby building, as the grey sky became gloomier, stood a figure covered entirely in a black cloak, gazing down at the handsome young man holding hands with his teacher as causal as ever.
She was supposed to be laying dead on the streets!
"He was too far to stop the truck... Plus, there was no magic casting... D-Don't tell me his telekinesis skills are this powerful! And on earth?? I must be mistaken"
Voicing out their dissatisfaction along with surprise, the plan was a failure. Most definitely, Liza was too superior and even a demonic creature wasn't able to see her, leading to bewilderment in the turn of events
The truck smashing into Jane was planned as suspected and it wouldn't end there.
"He's asking for it now. I was going to just poke his human toys, but he's pissing me off... I will destroy you"
The sudden shift in emotions carried on.
"Get over here, pig"
Suddenly, the cloak was raised and a fair delicate hand appeared out. It was a command and a different person walked from behind.
Stopping as he was just before them, with glowing red eyes and a chubby fat figure and familiar face, it was none other than Jane's brother, but now he didn't seem to have any humanity left in his soul...
