Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Found

Brenna POV

“Brenna? Did you hear me? I asked where are you love?”

At the sound of Scott’s voice uttering the word ‘love’ I felt the bile rise in my throat.

I racked my brain trying to find the right words to answer, but there weren’t any. It’s not like I could even string a sentence together let alone combine enough obscenities to make myself sound intimidating to the man I wanted absolutely nothing to do with.

“I’ve been looking all over for you. You know, you made me look like a fool that night. All you had to do was take out that damn trashy piercing and we could have enjoyed ourselves at my work dinner.”

I wanted to pull the phone away from my ear. I wanted to cry, scream, and curse up a storm, but I couldn’t do anything.

I froze. I felt so utterly helpless as my wolf watched me cower to a voice I hoped to never hear again in my entire life.

How could one person do this to me? How could the person I held so dearly in my heart cause me to tremble from fear?
