Chapter 29: The Royal Decree Part 3
"Agreed! We will also add this to the decree. And we will also sign it in blood as well, binding us to this." In a matter of minutes, a new decree was once more written up. The King once more stood in front of Alissia.
"We, the King of the Kingdom of Gransdale, hereby declare that Alissia Geryworth will be granted the title of County Princess and given a small plot of land for her to do as she sees fit. An estate here in the capital under her name. A one thousand gold a month salary. Three requests from we the King. Each request must be reasonable and can not be to take over the crown. You are only required to help this kingdom in its time of need and never betray this King. This also goes for the kingdom and myself as well. We are not allowed to betray Alissia Greywroth in any shape or form."
The Gerad paused as he looked down at Alissia. "Do you accept the decree?"
Alissia smiled and nodded: "Yes, your majesty." She would not say no now that the whole forced marriage thing was no longer involved. She did not like forced romance. But it seemed this King and Queen did not see it that way. But what she did not understand was why were they trying to force a decree on her in the first place. But since it did not hinder her at all from traveling around, she saw no issues with it.
"Then please drop a drop of blood onto the decree." Gerad also raised his hand and bit his finger. He dropped a drop of blood onto the decree, sealing him into the deal. Alissia did the same. And with this, her second day in a new world was rewarded with a title and a bunch of other perks.
Alissa felt relieved that the marriage part was taken out. While Princess Fina was her type, she did not wish to force the poor girl into anything. But now that she had three requests, she did have one she wished to use right away. "Your Majesty. I would like to make one request before I take my leave."
"Oh? What request do you have?" Gerad asked. He was suddenly getting nervous. The only thing he knew that this girl liked to do was punch people. And in a way, this was in the scope of his requests! He suddenly felt like a fool. He should have said that she can't request to hit him too!
"I wish to have a decree making my maid Millie my sister. And that she will be granted freedom of servitude." Alissia wished for MIllie to have a good life. While she had only known the girl a short while, Millie had grown on her and reminded her of the girl she used to protect. Sadly she failed, and that girl died of illness. But that was the life of street kids like her. One cold could mean the end of one's life. Everything costs money, even medicine back where she came from.
"Oh? Using one of your requests to better the lives of another. Good! I knew I did not misjudge you! County Princess Alissia Greyworth, I shall write your decree now!" Gerad was surprised and also very happy. Alissia was much better than he thought. Anyone with a request would try to push for something that would make him have to reject, making him look bad for going against the decree. But this girl rather use one of these requests to protect someone she cared for.
"Thank you, Your Majesty." Alissia smiled and bowed her head slightly. She had already secured Millie's future for her in an instant. The money she would get monthly would be sent to the house, and then Millie could spend it as she saw fit.
But just because she got all these new things did not mean her original plans had changed. She still wished to become an adventurer to make even more money while she explored the kingdom. Just because she had money did not mean she would not continue to make more. The biggest reason besides exploring was that the money she was getting was not a sure thing. The King could at some time decide to change his mind. Or war could break out, and things could go sour. She had to always plan for whatever the future may hold.
Off to the side, looking at Alissia, Princess Fina has a complex expression on her face. She was indeed happy for Alissia, but she suddenly felt depressed. Like she had just lost something dear to her. "Fina?"
"HUh? Ah! Alissia, congratulations." Princess Fina said with a forced smile.
"Mmm… Thanks. Also… Do not take offense to my rejection earlier. I just do not like the idea of forced marriages. Plus, we just met. It's not good to rush things even if we did like each other like that." Alissia explained.
Princess Fina looked into Alissia's eyes, which were full of sincerity, and gave a real smile. She realized that Alissia was thinking about her and her well being. "Mmm… Thanks."
Off to the side, Gerad felt a sharp pain in his side. He turned to look at his wife, who was standing there with her creepy smile on her face, and wondered just what this damn woman was up to now. "It seems our daughter will be gay in the future."
"Huh!? Were you not the one who pushed this fact?" Gerad asked. He was only willing to allow it because he wanted ALissia to stay in the kingdom and protect it. Otherwise, he would not want his daughter to marry another woman!
"Hmmm…. That is true, but I only want my daughter to be happy. If you can't get me pregnant with a new son, then she will take over as the ruler of this kingdom. This means she will need to have a spouse at her side. And who is better than Alissia? Some guy who will try to take advantage of my daughter!? Humph! I am sorry but not happening." The queen replied with a snort.
But when Gerad thought of it this way, he also felt this was kind of true. "Hmm you are right. I guess we can only wait and see what the future holds."
