"Finally…" I muttered as I arranged the sheets in front of me.
"I'm done." I said and gave the sheet to Kazuma sensei. "Already?" He asked. "Yeah." I said.
He turned through the pages and his eyes widened in surprise. "Yo.. you can leave." He said as I left the room.
'I might have gone overboard.' I thought as I remembered his expression. "Yo." I was greeted from behind.
"Hey." I replied. "How was your test?"
"It was pretty easy. You were right.." Minato said. "Ofcourse I am." I smiled back.
"So.. what now?" He asked as we went to the park. We had just given the exam required to jump grades. Since there were no practical classes in the first year, there were no practical exams.
"The second years have a lot of practical exams." I said. "We need to train ourselves."
"Yeah, we need to train physically too." He nodded. "So, let's make a new routine." I smiled. "We can be training buddies, you know."
He seemed enthusiastic about starting training. "Here." I gave him two kunai and two shurikens.
"Thanks… But how did you get it?" He asked.
"I.. st- no borrowed.. yes I borrowed it from some genins I met on the way."
He narrowed his eyes in suspicion. "What exactly do you mean when you say 'borrowed'?"
"..." Let's not talk about it.
"Hey wanna try them out?" I changed the topic.
*Sigh* "Well whatever as leaf shinobi they should have been more careful." He justified himself.
We then headed to the training ground. It was empty, well because the 'training ground' was a forest. Neat.
Minato simply took a kunai and threw it at a stump barely hitting the tree. "It's harder than it looks."
"Are you sure this is the first time you threw a kunai?" I asked.
"Yes." He replied.
"... Damn geniuses.." I muttered, it had taken me a month to get that close and even then it was considered fast.
"Sorry I didn't catch that." He said.
"It's nothing." I said as I grabbed a kunai and threw it, it pierced straight into the middle of the trunk.
"Tch.. I will catch up to you. Just you wait." He clicked his tongue as he took his kunai and threw it again.
And again.. and again… And again.. Each time it got closer and closer.
'I will catch up to you.' His words hit me like a truck. I had been complacent.. I thought I got rid of that hubris the moment I returned in time but..
'I was just as arrogant.. this time for a different reason.' I thought. Yes, I had the skills of a regular jonin, but I knew the boy beside me would reach that level very soon.
He grew faster than me and soon enough will surpass me, if I want to be at the top.. I would have to grow as well.but how?
In my previous life I had reached my limit. I mean I already learnt most ninjutsu I could without breaking into any clan. I was decent at taijutsu… And I had neither the aptitude nor the patience to learn fuinjutsu.
If I want to reach further than my previous life I would have to do something different, something that would push me past my limits.
There were two areas I didn't focus on in my previous life, One was Medical ninjutsu and the next was Genjutsu.
I didn't really see much potential in Genjutsu without the sharingan, and learning medical ninjutsu took expertise and time.. and not to mention talent.
In hindsight perhaps I should dive into the realm of Genjutsu this time. Basic medical knowledge would work as well, I have more time to focus now since I don't have to polish my taijutsu and shurikenjutsu this time; only revise it from time to time.
Also, there was another thing I was curious about, I had two attributes in my previous life, fire and lightning.
I also learned to use some wind ninjutsu since I fantasized about learning rasenshuriken. Well.. it didn't go well for me.
I tried to learn the Rasengan at least. The anime made it look too easy. I did learn it though just not enough to make it practical.
The thing I was curious about was this time I had three natures; fire, lightning and wind. I knew since I bought a chakra paper a few days ago.
Could I create a new kekei genkai, or maybe even a kekei tota? It was an idea I wanted to play with.
I have to divy up my time with these three concepts in mind.
"Hey.." I was snapped out from my daze.
"Ye.. yeah." I asked.
"Let's go to eat some ramen, my treat." He said.
"O.. okay." I shrugged as we headed to the ramen shop.
~Scene Break~
The third hokage was sitting on his office. Looking at his crystal ball to peep at things he was not supposed to.
He felt someone's presence approaching the office. "Lord third." There was a knock on the door.
"Enter." He said as the crystal ball stopped glowing.
"Ah.. Sakumo, You're back." Hiruzen smiled.
"Yes lord third." Sakumo bowed.
*poof* Hiruzen removed his pipe. "Report."
"Yes sir, It seems that the next vessel for Kyubi has been chosen. She should be arriving soon."
"That's good." Hiruzen nodded.
"Kumogakure seems to be moving unusually." Sakumo said.
"That's not good." Hiruzen nodded in the same manner as before.
"Is that it?" Hiruzen asked and Sakumo nodded.
"Okay, you can go now."
Sakumo simply bowed and left.
*poof* Hiruzen took another smoke as he decided it was time to do his paperwork.
"Application to jump grades… Two applicants.. both of them are civilian orphans.." Hiruzen read the report.
*poof* His eyes widened when he saw the papers.
Both of them had done very well. One of them even scored perfect. They were indeed children with high potential but he had seem plenty of geniuses before so it wasn't the thing that surprised him.
The reason that he was so shocked was.. "How the hell did Kazuma confuse second year questions with that of fifth year?"
So, just in case you're wondering; No Kushina's not the love interest.
Then who? I dunno.
