Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Lost in the Dark

They waited several hours before making a move. Mirra was proven right; they did not have to worry about food. Fifteen minutes into their confinement, to her and Caine’s great shock, a platter, laden with slices of cold meat and cheese, suddenly materialized in the middle of the table.

Vix had tried not to think too much about it as she munched on her dinner. ‘Magic, again.’ She could not tell whether she wanted to learn more about it, or whether she wished she had never found out about it at all.

Vix expected to talk the entire time, turning everything over again and again with Caine. But neither of them said much of anything. What conversations they did have were about ordinary things, reminiscing about old times and planning for the future.
