Chapter 37: VOICE

Third Person's P.O.V

Completely baffled yet satisfied... t hat is how they both feel right now. They are both aware of the significance of a kiss, but they are in a state of bewilderment. Snowflakes fell lightly on the almost-dead plant and flowers, just like his lips, which are lightly kissing hers. The princess's eyes widened as her lips trembled. Her hand on his chest is starting to clutch his cloth intently, unsure whether to continue or quit.

And she pushed him away with all her effort, leading him to lie his back entirely on the mattress beside her. Both of them inhaled slowly while staring blankly at the ceiling of the home that served as their temporary place to sleep.

If the lamp and candle can't light up every area of the house, a kiss isn't enough to light up their actual feelings either. The princess's heartbeat accelerated along with the pouring white snow. It's as though gravity is causing her to breathe as hard as she can.

He moved away from Mino, who was similarly at a loss for words and simply rubbed his forehead. She gently turned her back on Mino, that's why she felt the coldness in the room due to her backless dress. The whip lashes that had marked her back were completely erased.

When Mino faced the princess, who had her back turned and was some distance away from him, her emerald green dress caught his eye. Her pristine back is revealed, and Mino can't help but feel glad because there are no obvious scars or wounds. He wishes he hadn't chosen a backless dress for her since she might feel the coldness of the surroundings.

He swiftly jumped out of bed, while the princess silently begged him not to do anything else that would confuse her emotions. She After a minute, she became mindful of the tension in the bed as a result of Mino's return beside her.

When she felt a thick cloak embracing her body that being gently placed on her by Mino, she fiercely gripped the piece of cloth on her chest. Her heart raced once more, but she pushed herself to close her eyes and ignore the feeling. "He's the one who needs to catch feelings, not me!" exclaimed the princess in her mind.

It will only bring her troubles, which is why she must stop whatever is triggering this erratic heartbeat. Mino is a human with vampire abilities, thus this increasing affections will be a problem in the long run. He will die, and she does not want to love him sincerely in order to avoid future pain. She merely wants to fulfill her part in the prophecy and have a child so she won't need Mino's presence anymore. They are free to split ways.

She is also terrified that if she ever completely falls for him, the feeling is not mutual. This is because she knows Mino is only with her due of the agreement he and the Goddess made. Mino is a puppet for the Goddess, therefore it's easy to believe that all of his actions are simply to follow the Goddess to go home.

She was buried in that thought, but Mino smiled because he had a silly idea. He didn't want the solitude to continue. "Psst!" he whispered out to the princess, who frowned. "Psst! Princess!" he said, and the princess glared at him sharply.

"What!" she exclaimed, raising an eyebrow. She is surprised to find Mino smiling from ear to ear. Nonetheless, she must admit that seeing him smile like that gives her butterflies. His almond-shaped eyes have narrowed, his bright smile is revealing his white and perfect teeth. She finds herself staring at that smile, attempting to retain it.

"Knock! Knock!" Mino exclaimed gleefully, and the princess grimaced. "Knock, knock? Why are you knocking while you're inside and not outside?" the princess was annoyed since Mino was inside and why would he knock. Mino's smile quickly faded, and he rubbed his the back of his neck.

"It's a joke!" he exclaimed. "What joke? Where is the joke?" the princess asked frankly, for what he said was not funny. Mino took a big breath and just looked up because it appeared that he would have a difficult time messing with the princess. "It was like this when I said "Knock! Knock!" you'll ask, "Who's there?" is that clear?" he politely said.

"Why should I inquire who is there when I know that you are-" Vreihya asked. "Just do it! For Pete's sake!" Mino cut her off, forcing a smile because he appeared to be losing patience. He just wants to make a joke for Pete's sake!

The princess sat down forcefully right away. "Fine! Who's there?" she yelled angrily. "Tuhod!" exclaimed Mino straight away. "Entrante! Why?" gasped the princess as she lifted her dress to reveal her knee. "What's wrong with my knee?" she worriedly inquired. "My God! It'll take me a year with you!" Mino grumbled.

GLOSSARY FOR NON-FILIPINO READERS:

Tuhod- is a tagalog word for "knee" that is why the princess looked at her knee.

"What happened to my knee, Mino?" the princess inquired, looking at her other knee and poking it to be sure nothing awful had occurred to it. "There's no problem with your knee; it's part of the joke!" Mino exclaimed, beginning to regret his urge to pull a jest.

"Why did you say "tuhod" when there is no problem?" asked the irritated princess. "Pay attention! When I said something after you said "who's there?" "Just repeat the word with who," Mino said again, and he just wanted to lie down and they will chat tomorrow. "Like "tuhod" who?" answered the princess, who covered her knee once again and eventually got what Mino desired.

Mino appeared to be revived because the princess was following. "Good! Fast learner, huh!" he says. "Knock! Knock!" he added. "Who's there?" asked the princess, who was still unsure if her answer was accurate. "Tuhod!" exclaimed Mino hastily. "Tuhod who?" said the princess, who appeared to be confused once more.

Mino couldn't help but smile when he realized he could finally tell his punchline. He cleared his throat in preparation for his big joke. "And I was dying inside TUHOD you; I couldn't believe what I felt for you."

Her eyes expanded and her mouth opened widely, touching both of Mino's cheeks. Meanwhile, the mortal frowned because she was expected to laugh rather than be surprised. "Can you repeat that?" the princess asked, as she slowly released her touch on both of Mino's cheeks.

Mino closed his eyes again and attempted to sing his earlier joke. "And I was dying inside to hold you; I couldn't believe what I felt for you," he sang, then opened his eyes to see the princess's sparkling eyes with admiration. "Your voice is magnificent!" she said, and Mino parted his lips in astonishment as he felt the burning heat on his cheeks.

"Can you sing it again?" the princess said, clearly impressed. His voice has a lovely tone with just the proper amount of smoothness. She didn't care about Mino's joke, which she didn't understand. She's captivated with his great voice and the unfamiliar song he sung earlier. Mino sang another verse of the song, and the princess couldn't stop herself from applauding.

"If you always sing to me, I might fall for you-" the princess quickly closed her mouth as she realized she was about to say something unusual. Mino abruptly stopped singing and turned to face the princess. "Continue?" Mino asked gently, as though he wanted the princess to complete what she was saying.

"Nothing!" the princess said, crossing her arms and turning away from Mino. His lips formed a dazzling grin since he understood what the princess was about to say even though she didn't finish it. "I guess... the key to winning your heart is to use my euphonious voice," Mino said softly, as if he didn't want the princess to hear it.

The princess lay down again and turned her back on Mino, having just promised herself that she shouldn't feel anything, but she quickly forgot. Mino closed his eyes and laid back completely on the thin mattress. He is telling himself to stop these random actions in his head. He also has difficulty understanding why his heart is throbbing like there is no tomorrow.
