Chapter 32: ORIGINAL

We came to a snow-covered house after only a few minutes of walking through the frozen wilderness. Calix and I both came to a halt as soon as I stopped walking. "I don't think we should go there," I said coldly, because we didn't know anyone who lives there. Nobody should know where Mino and I are right now because the other kingdom is after us.

"Chill princess, that's my place," Calix replied nonchalantly, and I nodded. As we approached the medium-sized house, I remarked, "Why do you have a house here in this cold dead forest?" "Because I am cold and dead as well," he replied figuratively, and I simply looked down in response to what he said. I realized he was referring to our past. I was the only one who caused him so much pain that he lost the cheerful Calix I knew.

We entered a few minutes later, and it was noticeable that this house had not been deserted because there were still a few candles blazing. He carefully placed the unconscious Mino on the bed, and I instantly looked at the side of his head that had been struck by the rock. Because I had wiped it earlier, I double-checked that it was no longer bleeding. "Stay here while I fetch my meds from the basement," Calix said.

After a few seconds, it was just me and Mino, and I gazed at the portrait on the wall. It is a portrait of a woman, but her face is incomplete because the lines are arbitrary. The body suggests a woman, but the face is obscured by scrawled lines that symbolizes that her face is a mystery. Calix sketched this, and I recognized his drawing technique because I used to be the only girl she drew and painted.

I merely smiled since he was gradually realizing that I wasn't the right woman for him. I know it was difficult for him to accept this thought, but I also know that he cannot escape his own fate. The moon-shaped necklace she was wearing helped me confirm who the woman in the portrait is.

I sensed Calix's presence as I stood in front of the portrait a few moments later. "You're starting to get visions of her," I said casually, but he didn't respond. He merely stood next to me, handing me the medicine bottle that was about to use on Mino. I grabbed it and rushed towards Mino.

I opened it and poured the powder into my palm. I said a short prayer because this powder requires a royalty's prayer to be activated, but it comes with agony but I won't think about it. I murmured another prayer as I rubbed his wound on his head, and gradually I felt the pain on the side of my head and the slow leaking of blood from it.

I was rendered speechless by the pain and fresh wound that being transferred into me. As I stroked his cut, it appeared that his wound, which is becoming brighter, had become increasingly painful. Blood gushed freely from the wound on the side of my head. When the light in Mino's head went out, indicating that his wound had healed, he opened his eyes and saw me.

I felt like I am about to lose my stance due to the crippling pain, but I sensed Calix approaching me. I appeared to lose consciousness for a moment, but then I felt the snow prince's arm. Because of the pain that was transferred to me, I bit my lip, and I instantly saw Mino stand up and pull my wrist to get me away from Calix.

I immediately felt Mino's arms tighten around me, as if he didn't want anyone to reach me. "Why are you here?" he snarled at Calix, as if he was prepared to strike. I sense Mino's strong support for me, as if he is defending me from Calix.

"Look, she's still bleeding; don't focus on me," Calix remarked coldly, and Mino stared at me, his eyes widening as blood flowed from my wound. He scooped me up like though we were newlyweds and laid me on his bed nicely.

Calix was about to approach, but Mino immediately raised his hand to stop him. "I don't know who you are! Don't come near her," he sniffed sharply. "I can see that you're territorial, but you should realize where you are now mortal," Calix warned Mino, but he ignored him and rapidly grabbed what appeared to be fabric from his bag, which was close underneath the bed.

I could feel that he's leisurely wiping away the blood stains on my cheek. "I don't care if you're stronger than me, I'll never let you touch her!" stated Mino sharply, which only made Calix smirk. Mino was pale, possibly due to the cold weather, but he didn't seem to bother and just stared at my cheek before reaching over to my wound but I stopped him when he was about to touch it with a cloth.

"Don't worry about it, it will heal eventually," I told him, but he only raised an eyebrow at me. "I was the one who made sure you didn't get hit, but why do you still have a wound?" I was surprised by his reply. What exactly does he mean? Did he see I was going to hit the rock that's why he covered my head so tightly earlier?

"Stop! You're making me sick!" Calix yelled at us, and after a while, I could feel my wound mending because it wasn't inflicted by my fellow vampires, therefore it would heal quickly. Even though I was still dizzy, I sat up straight.

"What is this prince doing here?" Mino inquired. "I am here to kill you both," Calix's eyes lit up, and there were sharp daggers on both sides of him, as if he was ready to attack us, but I took a long breath because I knew he was just messing with Mino. Mino quickly stepped in front of me, blocking Calix's daggers.

"Bring it on Elsa!" Mino said, and Calix and I both scowled in response to his words. Who the hell is Elsa? Haist! Mino and his human references. "You're too arrogant for a human," Calix remarked. "Could you just stop this nonsense?" I sped up and got between the two of them.

"Mino, meet Calix Amadeus Salizte, my childhood friend," I said instantly to Mino, but Calix laughed, and I merely raised an eyebrow. "Vreihya, am I just a childhood friend?" Calix said meaningfully, and I looked at him as if I was threatening him not to speak, but he merely scoffed at me.

"I am Prince Calix Amadeus of the Salizte kingdom, and I was Princess Vreihya Amely Zecillion's original mate before you entered the prophecy, human," he remarked arrogantly, which enraged me.

I gazed at Mino that has an expression I couldn't quite interpret. I'm not sure why I seem to want to explain what Calix said to him, but his smirk seems to have punctured my heart. His following words appeared to make my heart sink.

"Great to know I wasn't the original; how I wish you had fought for that title of yours so that I wouldn't be an unfortunate victim of it," he remarked coldly, and I felt like a sharp arrow had pierced my heart.

Entrante! Why does it hurts?
