"Then who is behind this rebellion?" Alexis asked.
The Hand fell into thought. But he soon shrugged.
"We shall investigate this matter properly," he said eventually. "What we should worry about is now is what to do with these people here."
'We should try to help them...' Alexis thought, but he knew the others wouldn't agree with him.
He frowned, feeling that he was about to fight an uphill battle. But he wasn't unmotivated. All his life, he was fighting uphill battles, trying to make lives better for the common people. This time wouldn't be so different.
"Let's discuss this in the court. The Sovereign will make the final decision."
"You're right, Your Majesty," the Hand replied. "I'll send people to ascertain the safety of the nobles."
The two told the commoners their intentions. They also said that they'll likely have to wait a long time before the decision was made, so to make camp for themselves outside the city.
