Chapter 23: Envious
Andrews looked at the ground which had a hole because of the blast. The Arrow was now floating in the air after causing the blast and it went straight into the hands of Dawn.
' A child?' Andreas was confused when he saw Dawn coming toward him but he didn't forget about the arrow in his hand, as he kept an eye for an attack.
" You just saved me a lot of trouble, if you hadn't killed that thing, I would have had to sacrifice Kevin," Dawn said.
' What? You were going to sacrifice me.' Kevin shouted and felt betrayed.
' Only when my plan B wouldn't have worked.,'
' What was your Plan B?' Kevin asked.
' To fight and win against the wolf after gaining more energy than the wolfbat.' The whole time Dawn was trying to buy time using Kevin, his plan A was to make Kevin strong enough to fight against the wolf but they underestimate their enemy too much. That was the reason why he used Plan B, which was to kill every other wolfbat and become strong himself.
' So sacrificing me was your Plan C. How did that work?'
' You deserve compensation for being used like that, so I will answer your question. Plan C was to simply blast your core within the wolf. If I am left with no choice, I will not hesitate because I could save many lives from just one sacrifice.'
Kevin started to rant, he didn't know many things about himself. Now, finding this truth was too shocking for him. If he would have ever tried or will try to betray Dawn, then nothing but a complete end awaits him. The thought of it scared him, there was a moment when he had thought of gathering more death energy in this fight to one day be strong enough to get freedom from being a servant.
He decided to not think much and quietly left to devour the souls that were just floating on the battlefield, there were many of them so this was a feast for him. With each soul, he consumed he could notice a slight change in his power.
' Don't overeat, you know what will happen.'
After their conversation was finished he again looked at the knight commander. Being three times as tall as Dawn was, Andrews kneeled in front of Dawn.
" I should not be biased but, are you the one who dealt with the slaves and today here saved our Lord's territory?" Andrews asked.
" Yes, I am the one who did it. I think some of your men were watching, why don't you confirm it with them?"
The third group of knights who were watching didn't notice the whole fight but they did watch Dawn kill many wolfbats with ease.
" There is no need for me to think because if that young man confirms that you are the savior then I should believe." Andrews was talking about Hans.
" Why is there even a need to confirm? Do you want to pick a fight with me?" Dawn asked.
" You judge too quickly and judge us wrong, we are indebted to you and our Lord, Morgan Auster wants to meet you to express his gratitude," Andrews explained himself.
" Hans had told me that Baron wants to meet me but I will do that when I want it. You could at least do that if you feel gratitude." Dawn replied.
" You are good with words for a kid, I now feel that if I force you anymore it would be wrong," Andrews spoke, and then after thinking he added, " Fine, seeing as you wish this. I will now only act as a messenger and will relay your words back to him. Please allow me to know your name."
" My name is Dawn, relay my words and tell your lord that he has an amazing knight, and I am very envious of him for this." Dawn smiled, he knew that people like Andrews were rare and he was glad he could meet someone who knows honor.
