Chapter 20: Underestimated Enemy

' How is this doggy so strong?' Kevin asked to dawn, his thoughts being more intense than ever before.

' I thought you can handle it.' Dawn teased Kevin.

Kevin rose from the ground and looked toward the wolf, the wolf eyed for Kevin to make the next move. It was not attacking him but its eyes were focused completely on Kevin.

' Why is it looking at me like that and not attacking?' Kevin asked Dawn.

' Maybe the wolf wants to eat you and it is just confused about whether you will burn his mouth or not.'

' I will teach this stupid doggy a lesson that he would never forget for his life.' Kevin said as he again ignited his flames and this time instead of throwing the fireball. He flew with great speed towards the wolf.

The Wolfbat leader flapped his wing and tried to fly higher to create a distance. It was afraid of getting burnt so doing long-ranged attacks was advantageous for it. Kevin flew higher and higher to follow the wolf. The wolfbat was a master in flying and was able to take a turn in very odd directions while flying. Kevin found it hard to keep up and was trying his best to not lose sight of his enemy.

While Kevin was fighting, Dawn was dealing with the other wolves. Unlike the leader of the pack, the rest of the wolves were ten times weaker. Dawn condensed flames containing them within his death energy, the death energy gave the flames a shape of an arrow. It almost looked like a normal arrow and was quite beautiful.

' This will be more than enough to kill every one of the sidekicks.' Dawn thought as he threw the arrow toward one of the wolfbat larger than the average wolf of the group. It pierced through that wolf's body and continued to fly forward, killing two more who were in the way of the arrow's trajectory.

After reaching a certain distance the arrow changed its direction and flew towards the sky. Dawn was controlling his death energy making the arrow fly in any direction he wanted. However, he had to make sure that the arrow does not lose speed so he sent the arrow into the sky first as high as possible.

Then it again flew downwards and when it reached a certain height below it again changed the direction and flew towards the other remaining wolves. Lock was watching this and so were the other people. They felt that Kevin was their key player but now Dawn had become their hope.

The knights were watching from a place where they were not able to see who was doing it but they did see the arrow fly in the air and then come down to kill or injure the wolves badly.

' Is it the doing of that person who my lord had told me to bring back?' Catching the bandits and saving the slaves had already made Andrews respect the anonymous savior but this feat made his heart race faster. He was very excited to meet the savior.

Dawn hadn't noticed the knight but the others did. Felix and Hans were concerned that they will be misunderstood in the chaos so they told others that they will go to talk with the knights, beforehand.

Brook stood watching in awe, he was always an absent-minded and silent type of person but he was cheering for Kevin without shouting anything. From his expression and actions, it seemed like he was the one on the battlefield.

The Leader wolfbat howled when Kevin was finally able to land an attack but the next second he regretted it. Kevin's attack angered the Leader Wolfbat, and it slashed Kevin with his claws and when Kevin flew a little backward after the attack it swallowed Kevin's core entirely in his mouth.

Everyone in the group was shocked, Lock gripped his sword and started to gather Aura on his sword.

" NO! Kevin!" He shouted in a very loud voice.

The knights took notice of this but they were finally ready to move as the fight between the two monsters has come to an end.
