The imperial palace, Noble consort Nie's palace.

A petite woman dressed in a light pink palace gown sat on the soft cushion, hands stretched out on a pillow while the Imperial physician checked her pulse. 

The woman rubbed her tummy gently with a slight smile, she glanced at her elder brother, Duke Shenxiu with bright eyes. Her eyes sparkled, she could not hold her joy.

"How is the baby, is he healthy?" 

"The baby's pulse is stable, your highness. He is only a few months old so you have to be careful", Imperial Physician said as he took the handkerchief away from her wrist and placed it in his medicine box.

Noble consort Nie pulled back her hand and placed it on her tummy. "This baby is a gift, I will take good care of him," she replied lips curved up. 

Duke Shenxiu gave the Imperial physician a bag of coins for his services and instructed his guards to see the physician off through the back entrance.
