Chapter 7: Finger bone wand!
Skylar squatted down and took the windbreaker off the windbreaker guy's dead body. He took off his button-up shirt and took off the bloodstained t-shirt.
"You're really strong", ripped jeans guy said as he got back on his feet. "What are you? A werewolf?", he asked.
Skylar just smiled and didn't reply. It was better to let ripped jeans guy think he was something else.
He put his button-up shirt back on and started buttoning it up. From the brief contact his sneaker made with ripped jeans guy's face, Skylar was immediately able to tell that the other party was a vampire. And since ripped jeans couldn't evade his kick, it meant he wasn't that fast, hence Skylar was able to tell that he was just a baby vampire.
Skylar got up after buttoning up his shirt and put the dead guy's windbreaker on. Only then did he turn to face ripped jeans guy.
"Don't you know it's rude to steal from a dead person?", ripped jeans guy said.
"He's dead. He doesn't own anything anymore, so it's not rude", Skylar reasoned.
"You just ruined a really important exchange. I would thank you since now I don't have to give the money to him. I can just take the artifact and leave but you probably want something, don't you?", ripped jeans guy asked.
"You're smart", Skylar smile. "That", he said as he pointed at the brief case in ripped jeans guy's hand.
"The case? Not happening", ripped jeans guy shook his head.
Skylar sighed. "I guess this is where we fight then", he said.
Ripped jeans guy took a step back. Skylar of course noticed this. A smile appeared on his face as he got an idea.
"What? You're not scared I'm going to bite you, are you?", he said.
Since ripped jeans guy though he was a werewolf, Skylar was going to use it to his advantage. Ripped jeans guy was either going to get taunted to attack or try to run away.
"Don't worry, my venom is really strong. You'll only die within a day or two", Skylar said with a smug smile on his face.
Werewolves produce a fluid called "werewolf venom" from their teeth. The fluid is called venom because is it really lethal to undead kinds of supernatural creatures. The same venom can also be used by werewolf alphas to turn ordinary people into werewolves.
Ripped jeans guy was a vampire. Vampires are blood sucking, undead creatures who can't even walk in the sun, so werewolf venom is naturally really lethal to them. Hence why ripped jeans guy was reluctant in attacking. This was probably his first time facing a "werewolf".
"If you don't what to fight, you can just hand the money over and I'll just leave. You can have your artifact. The guy's body is right over here", Skylar said.
For a second there, ripped jeans guy seemed to be contemplating something in his mind. His eyes wondered from Skylar to the dead guy on the floor. Just by looking at his face, Skylar could estimate what ripped jeans guy was thinking. He was going to try to speed pass Skylar with his vampire speed and grab the body of the dead guy, then try to run off with it and the money.
Like hell Skylar was going to let that happen. He was going to get his hands on the money even if he had to risk everything. With this thought in mind, Skylar held onto the suppression bracelet on his wrist, ready to take it off immediately when ripped jeans guy tried to leave.
Skylar had a really good reaction speed due to his enhanced speed but he couldn't move in superspeed. If ripped jeans guy was to try to speed away right now, Skylar wouldn't be able to stop him which is why he was going to risk taking the suppression bracelet off. He wouldn't have to worry about being taken over by the chaos energy if he is able to but it back on immediately after.
If he was an actual werewolf, he wouldn't have thought of this. He would be able to chase after ripped jeans guy with similar speed but he wasn't a werewolf.
Just like Skylar had estimated, ripped jeans guy suddenly turned into a blur as he moved in superspeed. Skylar didn't let even a millisecond pass by as he yanked the bracelet off of his wrist.
Ripped jeans guy grabbed the dead guy's body and immediately tried to get away when some kind of force grabbed onto him and sent him flying across the room, into the hard wall, making him drop both the body and the brief case. The force was so strong that ripped jeans guy died on impact, with several bones in his body breaking apart. His body hit the ground and started to bleed from all seven orifices and various parts of his body.
Skylar immediately put the bracelet back on his wrist and let out a sigh of relief. A second later and he would have been taken over by the chaos energy in his body.
By utilising the chaos energy in his body, one of the things Skylar could do was use a type of magic called "Chaos Magic". That was how he had been able to telekinetically toss the ripped jeans guy across the warehouse. But since he couldn't risk become evil and chaotic, he had to always suppress the chaos energy, which means he can't use the chaos magic. The only time he can use chaos magic is when he takes the suppression bracelet off.
Skylar walked over to the brief case that ripped jeans guy had dropped. He squatted down and opened it, revealing the half a million dollars in it. With this much money, he didn't have to worry about getting a job for a very long while as long as he didn't spend it willy-nilly. He closed it, picked it up and walked out of the warehouse with a smile on his face.
Skylar knew that the ripped jeans guy wouldn't stay dead. He had intensionally not killed him permanently. Ripped jeans guy was going to wake up in the morning, all healed up like he never died since he was a vampire. So unless staked in the heart with wood, decapitated or burned to ash by the sun, he wouldn't stay dead.
As if suddenly remembering something, Skylar ran dack into the warehouse and went to windbreaker guy's dead body. He squatted down next to it and took off the combat boots. He had only one pair of shoes which he had been wearing for three days straight. It smelled like a mouse died in the.
He brought the combat boots to his nose and smelled it. Luckily it didn't have a bad smell. Confirming this, Skylar immediately took off his shoes and put the combat boots on. He got up with a smile and walked out. Now with the money, he went back to the motel and got himself a room. He would sleep in it for just tonight and then tomorrow at noon, he would find an apartment to move in to.
On his way back, he happened to put his hand in the pocket of the windbreaker he took from that guy's corpse and felt something in it. He brought out what seemed to be a bone of a finger. A very long finger at that. The finger bone was about fifteen centimeters long and actually looked like some kind of wand.
Just hold it, Skylar could feel that there was some kind of magic in the finger bone wand. Not only that, Skylar could also feel the chaos energy in him start to react to the wand. The energy was trying to break out of the suppression and the longer Skylar held onto it, the stronger it became.
"This must be the artifact", he said. It didn't take a genius to figure it out.
What kind of an idiot puts something like this in his pocket during an exchange. Skylar asked himself internally.
If windbreaker guy had hidden it somewhere that wasn't on his body, Skylar wouldn't have gotten his hand on it. But he couldn't really complain. He had gotten more than he went for.
Skylar couldn't help but wonder what it could do. Whatever this thing does, it must be incredible to exchange it for half a million. He didn't want to find out what it did by using it. He didn't want to risk it. The chaos energy in him was getting stronger and he didn't want it to take over his mind any time soon so he put it back in the pocket of the windbreaker.
It was good that he got his hand on it. Whatever it could do, he didn't want it to end up in the wrong hand. You never know what people are capable of.

The next day, Wednesday.
February 24, 2016.
In the morning, Skylar got up from his short sleep and stretched. It was fairly late last night when the plane landed. And with his midnight escapade, he slept quite late after getting himself a room at the motel. He got up after at around nine and quickly freshened up. He took a refreshing shower and put his clothes back on since he had no clothes to wear apart from them.
He however didn't have to worry about that for any longer since he now had the money to live comfortably for a while. So after getting a suitable apartment for himself, he would go on a shopping spree.
Since lady luck was still a simp for Skylar, it didn't take him long to find a nice apartment. The whole apartment was quiet large with a really spacious living space, a large kitchen space, two bedrooms and a bathroom. The apart was currently empty and Skylar would have to buy everything he would need.
He didn't need to worry about the money since he had half a million dollars all for himself. What bothered him was the time and work he would need to do. Skylar was a lazy person. He could be lazy with a passion whenever he wants to be especially since he was trapped in a pocket for fifty years with nothing to do.
An ordinary person would have gone crazy with nothing to do for about fifty years but Skylar prevailed with how lazy he could be.
Now with an apartment, Skylar went shopping. He bought several sets of casual clothing, a decent suit and several pairs of shoes and sneakers since he didn't want to start looking like a homeless person or wear the same thing everyday. He felt like he would have to keep up a few appearances in some situations in the future.
Luckily, he didn't have to buy a whole new closet since the wall of both bedrooms in his new apartment had closets built into them.
He went back to the apartment to sort the clothes out and hang them in the closet. After that, he ordered some food online since he was getting hungry. The food didn't take long, in less than ten minutes, Skylar had the food delivered to him. He tipped the delivery boy and went inside to eat. He sat on the floor to eat since there was no furniture and devoured the food like the he was destined to be.
After eating, he laid on the ground and relaxed when he suddenly remembered the finger bone wand. He hand completely forgotten about it. The finger bone ring was still in the windbreaker. He had left the windbreaker somewhere in the bedroom so he went there, picked it up and took the finger bone wand out.
Just like before, the chaos energy in him starting to react to the wand. Skylar knew he had to hide it if he wanted nobody to find it. With this in mind, he went to pick one of the disposable plastic containers that contained the food he ordered. He put the finger bone wand into it and closed it.
Skylar drew an antitracking rune and a concealment rune on the container. The antitracking rune to prevent anybody from tracking the finger bone wand using magic or any other means and the concealment rune to make the container turn invisible so that nobody can accidentally chance upon it.
He needed magic to activate the runes but since he couldn't use the chaos magic, he decide to spill his blood instead to activate them. He bit into his hand and let the droplets of blood fall into the runes. Receiving enough blood, the runes glowed a little and activated, making the container turn invisible. With just a thought, Skylar was able to make his wound heal.
A smile appeared on Skylar's face as he picked the invisible container up. The went to the closet and drew another antitracking rune at the bottom just as an additional precaution. This one was a lot larger than the one he drew on the container. He bit into his hand again and bled onto the rune. After receiving enough blood, the rune glowed as it was activated. He then placed the invisible container in the middle of the rune and left it there.
