Bloodbath

Ivo looked down at the girl with a confused expression. "It's going to be a bloodbath. You shouldn't be around to watch something like that."

She scowled deeply. "You think I have never killed anyone?"

Ivo grimaced. "Yeah, but you shouldn't have."

She dug her feet in the dirt. "I'm not going anywhere. So you take me with you."

She pointed at Vice. "I bet I can shoot better than him."

"Hey! I have nothing to do with this. If you want to stay here and be shot at, be my guest."

"Fine, but be careful."

She rolled her eyes at him. "And also, call me Mari, Machado never remembered."

Ivo guessed that now she knew why. She had always been disposable to everyone in Batalhão. None of them were going to bother remembering how she preferred to be called.

He turned to the kids that were struggling to help each other climb over the wall.
