Ivo hadn't really given too much thought to the reason behind the delay in scheduling a meeting, but Vice's words had sent a shiver of dread down his spine. All of a sudden he had a bad feeling.

He didn't say a word to Davi all the way up the elevator. The tension between them built and built, like the air before a storm.

Inside the apartment the air was no less charged. Alina stopped pacing as soon as they walked in.

"Finally. I was about to go get you myself."

Thiago came out from his bedroom at the sound of their voices, looking stricken and wan.

"What is going on?" Davi asked, sitting down on the sofa's arm.

"We were right to think that we were being kept out of the loop on purpose," Alina said. "The whispers I heard talked about trouble in one of the communities, Paraisópolis."
