Chapter 39: The crowd went wild

For once, Ivo was glad for the dog mask, and wondered if Davi hadn't insisted he wore it exactly because it made it impossible to read his facial expressions. He had no idea how much Davi and the others made from their nightrunning business, and considering the precarious conditions most people lived in, it hadn't crossed his mind that they were making enough to afford something better.

But Vital had remarked on it before, hadn't he? How he couldn't afford their rates for the number of gigs he needed them for. 

On the other hand, Davi and Alina had also made it clear that they weren't paying rent on the apartment, and they certainly didn't own it. 'The business end of a gun', they called the payment method.

So, where was all the money they made nightrunning going to?

Davi for his part was completely unfazed. "We don't like drawing attention to ourselves, which is why no one had ever found us out before."
