On the other side of the passage where Ji-hoon's ward was located, Ge-un walked into the ward with his clipboard.
The room was dimly lit and Ge-un had to switch the lights on before walking towards the bed. The individual on the bed remained unconscious.
A man in Black suit suddenly walked in, making Ge-un turn around and see who it was. Ge-un understood his searching gaze and let out a deep sigh before speaking.
"His pneumonia is getting worse," he informed, "he's going to be okay though but didn't he use his pills?" Ge-un questioned instinctively.
"Yes he did. I think we'll have to change medications for him, Ge-un….."
"No we can't." He disagreed, "even too much of the drug isn't good. All we have to do is hope he gets better. His sickness is confusing me. Pneumonia isn't as serious as his. There must be something else wrong." Ge-un cryptically said before looking back at the individual on the bed.
"He should be back up tomorrow when the blood has been transferred into his system. You shouldn't have let him lose that much blood before you brought him here"
"He was at a meeting and he had to stay till the end." The man in a suit casually explained, "when he visited the restroom, he lost it and that's when he started coughing out blood. I don't see enough reason why I have to explain this to you." The man in black suit frowned.
"I am his doctor, that alone gives me enough right to know everything that happened." Ge-un secretly eyed the man when suddenly, one of the nurses rushed in with a file.
Ge-un flipped it open and carefully read the content before handing it back to the nurse and turning his gaze to the man in blacck suit. "He has Hemoptysis''
"What? How is that possible? We treated the Pneumonia." The man in Black suit didn't want to come to terms with the doctor's words.
"But his system refused treatment, no matter how much medication he's used according to my report, he's still going to have it. All we have to do is hope he doesn't get worse. He should get himself an heir so we'll be in good hands here." Ge-un flatly informed before walking out of the ward.
As soon as he stepped out of the ward, he saw Ma-ri heading towards his direction, holding a food warmer and stopping just a foot away from him.
"You haven't had anything today Ge-un. Come along. I won't have you starving because you are busy." She seriously said to him before dragging him along with her.
"I'm needed in the surgery room right now Ma-ri, I promise I'm going to eat once I'm out okay?" He reassured her, giving her a light peck on the cheek but she shook her head in complete demurral.
"Won't that take hours? Come on Ge-un…."
"I already promised Ma-ri." He sighed but the stubborn lady before him pouted in annoyance before pushing him out of the way, walking to the elevator which led to his office and giving him a sign to show him she's watching him before the doors closed.
Seo-yeon gazed outside the window, staring at the busy street while remaining lost in her never ending thoughts. She didn't know exactly what to do right at that moment anymore even though she had decided on what to do.
"Momma." Ji-hoon called, gaining his mother's attention immediately as she turned around to look at him, only to find him awake.
"You didn't sleep baby?" She walked quickly to his side, wiping the tears which had formed at the corner of his eyes away.
"What's wrong sweetheart? Why are you crying? Are you in pain, sweetie?"
"Why is momma always lost in thought?" He inquired sadly, "It's okay momma, we'll be fine soon. Ji-hoon will be fine." The little boy mumbled with his voice shaking slightly, Seo-yeon immediately felt guilty for worrying her son like this and smiled reassuringly at him instead.
"Come here sweetheart. I know we'll be okay soon. Don't cry for momma okay? Just be a good boy and focus on recovering. I'm going to try my best to make some money for you to pay for your surgery, okay?"
Seo-yeon patted his hair gently as she hugged him. He replied to her with a slight nod, earning himself a peck on the cheek.
"Take a nice rest alright? Momma loves you."
After putting him back to sleep once again, Seo-yeon walked out of her son's room to take a quiet stroll outside. She already sent a message to Ma-ri, telling her not to worry that she just stepped out of the hospital for a few minutes.
Seo-yeon walked down the passage and as she made an attempt to enter the elevator, she came face to face with the strange man in Black suit.
Their eyes met for a minute and she recognized him almost immediately making her eyes widen slightly, she instinctively lowered her head before stepping into the elevator. The man didn't look back but the curiosity was obviously on his face.
Seo-yeon walked out of the hospital and took a deep breath. It had just recently started to rain, making her look up at the blue sky covered in foggy clouds, reminding her of the past.
She walked down the pavement with a defeated look on her face. To avoid people's disturbing gazes, she pulled up the hoodie of her cloth she was wearing.
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she walked down the pavement. She had never felt so helpless in her life like she was feeling right now, she wasn't sure if her plan to get Do-yun to pay the money for Ji-hoon's surgery will work but she just had to have fate.
Soon enough, she stopped in front of a coffee shop and sat on the bench outside the shop. She let the rain pour down on her delicate body, every passerby looked at her quizzical expression etching their faces, how could a normal person sit under the rain and still feel comfortable.
"Seo-yeon!" She heard Ma-ri's scolding voice after a long time, she didn't register the fact she was actually sitting in front of the coffee shop, making her blink as her body reacted to the rain which constantly drenched her.
"What do you think you're doing in the rain?? You've been out of the hospital for two hours now and I called you like a million and one times." An umbrella shielded Seo-yeon's head as her friend stood before her.
"Two hours? Wow, that's a very long time." She replied nonchalantly.
"Come on Seo-yeon, Ji-hoon has been asking for you non-stop, he won't eat nor sleep without you there." Ma-ri managed to convince her stubborn friend to follow her back to the hospital.
~
"What did you think you were doing out in the rain? What if you fall sick? Do you think I would take care of you? No. I would make sure you suffer for a few days before I care about you." Ma-ri thundered as soon as the nurses served Seo-yeon a hot cup of tea.
"I needed time to think Ma-ri. I can't just sit here and you'll expect me to think. I'm going to inform my workers that I'm closing up by the first of next month which will obviously sound wicked telling them in just a few days too." Seo-yeon sighed deeply, staring outside through the window again.
"Everything will be fine and stop overthinking. You're just gonna end up with a high blood pressure one day. What will become of Ji-hoon when your high blood pressure turns to stroke? You should think about your health if not for your sake but for Ji-hoon's sake."
