Chapter 85: Truth Serum (2)

"You have told me that before." Daphne reminded. 

"I just wanted to say it again then." He swirled the drink remaining in the pitcher. The wine lazily danced within the container, brought alive by his fingertips. 

"Am I only beautiful in your eyes for tonight?" Daphne knew that she had more important questions to ask about, but for now, she couldn't resist but tease him a bit. 

"Princess, you're always beautiful. But I just suddenly wanted to tell you that tonight." 

Daphne's smile froze on her face. His eyes were fiery, almost like they could burn deep into her soul. Yet, at the same time, there was a certain gentleness to them.

"You really mean it?" 

He gulped down another cup of the truth-serum infused wine. 

"Why wouldn't I? You're like a ray of light, so painfully unaware of your own intensity and pride, unable to see past your own history and memories. Yet, without meaning to, you can warm even frozen hearts."
