The couch was better than sleeping on the floor, but not by much. Tommy's back twitched and he grumbled. For Rose's birthday, he'd buy her a huge sofa...one that came equipped with a fold-out bed. If they stayed another night, which wouldn't be a good idea for their safety, he was definitely sharing the bed with Ruby. For his back, of course.

His hand was still swollen from the snakebite, but it was less puffy and he could almost make a fist. However, his leg felt like it had been run through a meat grinder. He hobbled to the bathroom.

Locked. Strange. He thought everyone was asleep. Where was Ruby? Sleep was the best thing for her. Better go check on her, kiss her awake if she was sleeping that soundly.

He checked her room and found her boots and cell phone gone. Please don't let her have gone after Brady alone. His stomach twisted like someone tightened a knot in his gut. After a quick look in the weapon's closet, he counted several knives missing.
