The meeting place was somewhat special; Gao Guang met Smith on his private jet.
The jet was ready for takeoff, but it hadn't yet reached the runway. Only Smith himself was on his private jet, without his personal flight attendant, so he had to do everything on his own.
"Would you like something to drink? How about a glass of wine?"
Smith was savoring a glass of wine, and in front of him sat half a glass of whiskey, obviously prepared for Gao Guang. He asked what to drink, but Gao Guang's choice was limited to strong liquor.
Gao Guang picked up the glass and said to Smith, "Didn't you just come from a reception? I thought you had already drunk quite a bit."
Smith clinked his glass against Gao Guang's and said, "You never really drink at receptions. Anyone who gets drunk at one is a fool—stay away from them. Even getting excited from drinking is very dangerous, so I always make it a point to end up with the same full glass I started with at those events."
