Kai stared at us all strangely.
"What?" he questioned me, "Don't you want her?"
"Well, yes but..." My words were cut short.
"Then I'll get her for you," Kai smoothly interpreted like this wasn't a problem.
"Well, then consider her yours," the man excitedly added. "Let me put her in a stable and then will get her purchased."
I was shocked as we followed alongside the man and the horse Kai was going to buy me.
"I'm surprised you're buying me a pregnant horse," I somewhat whispered to avoid the man from overhearing me. "Since you hate animals."
"Well, why not since you love animals?" Kai chuckled, asking. "I figured you'd want her."
I was awestruck by him doing this for me. Of course, I loved to have her. I just wasn't anticipating that Kai would purchase me a horse.
After the man locked her in the stable. We left the barn. Again, I avoided Hector's gaze from seeing me. I felt great relief to evade him from noticing me this whole time. I thought as Kai was talking with the man about setting up arrangements to ship my horse to the USA while we kept walking.
But before we had any chance to buy her. We all heard this man screaming. Along with this distressed horse screeching and snorting. I turn my neck back to see ahead from inside the barn. That same horse Hector was looking at went on a rampage. The horse was wildly kicking and bucking its front and back legs.
"HELP!" Hector yelled which caused the other horses to squeal in distress. He ran as everyone else was screaming and fleeing to get away from this stampeding horse. Along with Hector, a crowd ran out of the barn. As the rampaging horse follows them out!
Kai grabbed me into his arms for my protection. As the horse screamed like it was being controlled by something demotic. Many people around the horse's pathway run to get away. As his legs kick up toward the sky and then stomp the dusty ground beneath his hooves. The horse's neck flings and whips about like something was wrong with his brain. He stomped his hooves around in half cycles and screamed in distress. As if the poor animal was fighting to regain its sense of conscience.
Until whatever possessed it took back constraint. The horse's eyes were black and hollow as the crowd still scrambled to get away. From witnessing this firsthand, I swear to see the possessed horse found Hector before he charged after him like a bull.
Out of the entire crowd, it chased out of the barn. That horse gallops after Hector. I was utterly shocked and in disbelief to watch Hector fleeing for his life! As others dodge off to the side from the horse just missing them! It was like watching an action film.
My eyes gaped to see Hector and the horse were heading straight toward us. Unexpectedly, Kai shields my eyes with his palm and my body shook up against him. All I heard was this death-defying screech from Hector.
Until he went silent while everyone else kept screaming in general. Others yelled out to get help. Once Kai took his hand off my eyes, he dragged me away. Somehow I just managed to peek back to see Hector was dead on the dirt before the crowd gathered around him. And the horse that attacked him was on the ground seemingly dead too. Till I saw him breathing rapidly like it truly had been under some sorta spell.
"Let's buy that horse," Kai aggressively demanded when he looked at the shocked man that was selling him the horse.
"Yes... right away," the man was nearly speechless while Kai didn't seem to care about the incident.
Did Kai know what Hector did and plan for this to happen? I pondered for a second. No, he couldn't have known. Adding that with fact, nobody could actually control a horse to go on a rampage like that. Even if it seemed like something unnatural and dark possessed that poor horse. It isn't possible. Something else that Hector likely did. Must have startled the horse to get that upset.
"Perhaps, I should first see if anyone needs assistance from what had occurred," the man suggested kindly, trying to turn back.
But it didn't look like Kai was in the mood as he still pulled me along.
Kai motioned a head signal to Jack. Jack's friendly demeanor changed in a snap towards the man. He turned fierce and his eyes were colder than ice.
"Get moving!" Jack strictly snarled as he pushed the man forward. "Don't make my boss and his wife wait or else, he might change his mind and take his business elsewhere. Not too many people are willing to buy a pregnant horse that is carrying twins."
I was shocked by Jack's stern authority attitude. So quickly, he turned into a fearsome man that meant business.
"On top of a full price of 16,000," Rome added, being just as frigid which isn't his personality. This was the first time I've seen childish Rome which gears into being a brute.
"Y-yes... Right away, sir..." The poor man stuttered and surely felt timid by these guys.
Right now I can see why Rome and Jack qualified to work for Kai. With Kai's snap of a finger, their personalities shift real quick from nice to cruel. I thought as Kai purchased the pregnant horse for me back inside. Where we made those wagers before the race started.
