Chapter 34 : Collecting Information

Ajel looked into the eyes of Bjerg, where the previous darkness was instead replaced with a sense of wisdom and solemnity.

"/What have you done?" Bjerg muttered, looking down at his hands. "What have... am I done?/"

Ajel felt his Tattoo settle down as he looked toward the man.

"/the story, the story where you told me a beam reduced your fellow crewmates into ash. Do you remember anything?/"

"/No.... that's the scary part. I remember seeing her figure, her power, her.... but I don't remember any of the details. Why is my mind like this?/"

Ajel checked his mage vision, before looking toward the man again.

The previously chaotic yellow was replaced with a bright green that made Ajel slowly start to sigh.

Something had happened. He's done something to this man.

And Ajel suspected it was due to the Tattoo.

"/Do not plague yourself on it, friend," Ajel said, before shaking his head. "It was nice to have a chat with you, Bjerg."

"/Yeah.... you too./" Bjerg muttered, his gaze fixated on his hands before he shook his head.

Going to the other side of the tavern and sitting down with the residents, Ajel placed a silver coin on the table, which caused silence.

"A silver and a round of drinks to those who can give me the most information with the world's current affairs."

A hand reached out to the Silver before Ajel scanned the person who did it.

The golden rings and the slick golden tooth smile made Ajel want to gag as he observed this foreign man.

But his features were not Freljordian, nor was it Demacian, instead it was a lot more eastern, probably someone who migrated from Shurima.

"Hello, Ekwah. I am Roheen, a vagrant wine merchant." The man did a small bow. "This is my crew, and we scour the earth selling wine made from grapes and grain." The man spoke in the universal tongue.

"Grapes....?" Ajel muttered, which caused Roheen to laugh, before passing him a round fruit.

Ajel checked his mage vision, before checking if any of them were red.

Nope, just green and a few greenish-amber colours.

Biting into the grape, All whistled from the flavour and the juiciness of the plant.

"Have any to sell?"

"A bundle for 10 copper. Be wary friend, they do not last too long when exposed to the cold or the sun."

Ajel nodded his head, before paying the fee, which caused Roheen to smile.

"What do you wish to know of?"

"The delverhold."

Roheen smiles faded.

"The Delverhold... a popular rumour right now. Noxus had invaded this place rich in iron and gold and seized it once again, as it had been taken away by a rebel group that had a particularly megalomaniac leader."

"That's nothing new.... what's the main deal behind it."

"It's not what's been taken, it's who's it been taken by." Roheen flipped a coin through his fingers and played with it, showing his experience. He flipped it towards the air, before catching it. "Darius The Butcher."

Ajel could have sworn that the inn went silent with these words, which caused Roheen to give a toothy grin. He liked the attention of others.

"Darius the butcher, blessed with a magical weapon that makes it so skin touched by his axe can never heal." Roheen looked at his nails, before laughing. "Scary bloke, he is. He has a body that can break a section of a mountain with relative ease."

A section of the mountain?

"Stop with the hyperbolic language," Ajel muttered. "What is this body strengthening technique?"

"Another silver, my friend."

Ajel groaned before he put another silver to the table, which was responded with another toothy grin.

"Glad to be of service; anyhow, the body strengthening technique is the counterpart to mana, for those who are magically inept. They train in a certain force, which varies around the world. The Ionians train their mind, the Noxians their bodies and Demacia also train their bodies. In the Freljord, there is no such thing as the iceborn being the main source of power. However, there are still some cases of the tribes that practise a form of body strengthening."

"An example?"

"The Ingvar clan in the north. They are led by a man, aged 17 , who my sources said is called "Tryndamere." we wanted to trade with them , but their brutal and nomadic tribe refused and sent us on our way. However, the clan worships something more than power."

"You already know the question i'm going to ask." Ajel looked bored.

"They worship 𝙝𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙧 , 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙛𝙪𝙧𝙮 more than anything in the Freljord."

"Fury?"

"They worship a demi-god, the god of fury."

"Isn't the thousand pierced bear the main god of fury?"

"Divinity is beyond comprhresion of us mere mortals. I am a merchant, not a scholar or a clairvoyant."

"And this related to body technique how?"

"They use fury , to strengthen their bodies and gain power. They control fury , never letting themselves get consumed with it. Otherwise , the consequences to not just them but the Freljord would be intense. Some say they can heal themselfes, some say they can even cheat death with it."

"All power comes at a cost..." Ajel muttered , before looking to Roheen. "What is their cost?"

"They have urges , sometimes bloodlust, other times lust, and the hardest part is trying to control that."

"I see." Ajel muttered , before sitting up from the table.

"Thank you."

"No , thank you Ajel."

He had never said his name though.

"Everybody talks about you in the town. Your power was of utmost impressive, even fighting your inner demons and not succumbing to them. Maybe one day your story would be sung by bards in words and songs." Roheen muttered, his eyes going into slits which made Ajel uncomfortable. "the most viewed plays are those coveted in tragedy. I hope your legacy would be sang, not burned."

Ajel listened to these words, before turning his back to these merchants.

What was he meant to do now?
