Chapter 17: The Party

Baron's POV:

I sat on the bed in a daze. The wounds from the fight ached. I didn't know whether it was right or wrong.

I wanted to have Matilda. There was no doubt about it.

But not in such a despicable way. Of course, I could force myself on her, and I knew that I wouldn't have to worry about Gray anymore if I did have her.

Matilda didn't hate me as much as she seemed to make it, which made it easier for me. We were fated mates. It was meant to be from the start. She would belong to me, so all I had to do was wait patiently for the day to come. Like a good hunter, I had patience.

I stayed in her room for a long time. Todd and I were both comfortable with the scent of her. Then, I left in a hurry. Matilda would be angrier if she returned and found me still in the room.

I walked back topless to the room they had arranged for me. On the way, I met Alan.
