<Aurora>
"So, you just said it like that?" Hazel asked as she took a bite of her salad. "Yes," I replied with my head down on the table, hiding my face due to embarrassment.
"Well, that doesn't mean you won't get the job. Plus, it's not even a big of a deal" Hazel comforted me but I just shook my head in denial. After a moment of silence, I suddenly lifted up my head with a jolt, startling Hazel.
"Should I just go back and beg Manager Lee to have me back?" I asked as desperation laced my voice. Hazel just slammed her fork on the table, making me flinch and it startled a few people around too.
"That jerk? The one whose face you threw your resignation at?" Hazel exclaimed as I remembered my actions which did not hold good consequences for me, "I didn't throw it at his face~" I averted my eyes, " I just threw it towards him and it landed on his face, there is a difference, not that my intention was that" I tried to excuse my behavior.
"Same thing," Hazel said with her usual straight face.
"It is not. He deserved it though. Even though I didn't mean it but he deserved it. He made all the employees overwork day and night like donkeys, thinking he is the boss" I complained.
"And yet, you want to return?" Hazel asked as she took another bite. I felt defeated, "What else can I do? It's been four days since the interview and I haven't received any type of email, message, or phone call yet. I think it's a no." I sulked, regretting every life decision I ever made for some reason.
"Then apply somewhere else" Hazel suggested, making me look at her in disbelief, "You think I didn't? I have applied to every company that is in existence in California and a few in Boston and Chicago as well but...no luck"
"..."
After a few moments of silence, Hazel broke it, "You really don't have any good luck, do you?", to which I let out a scoff, "That's rude! You don't have to say that on my face. And do you know? You are a totally different person when you are sober and to be honest, I like your drunken state better even if it is quite troublesome"
"I don't know about that but lunchtime is almost over and I have to get back to the office" Hazel stood up and gathered her stuff. I glared at her, "That's so very inconsiderate of you! You know what? I hate you" I rolled my eyes as I folded my arms over my chest and sat back.
"The feelings are mutual, baby" Hazel winked and left, leaving me behind as I dumbfoundedly stared at her disappeared figure. I scoffed, "I'm gonna get you," I said to myself but soon broke my character, smiled and helplessly shook my head.
"I should also get going. My shift starts in half an hour" I reminded myself and got out of the restaurant where I paused when I looked at the weather, "It looks like it will rain soon. I didn't bring my umbrella though~" I complained, looking towards the sky.
I took a deep breath and then headed towards the local Starbucks where I worked part-time and after a long and exhausting six-hour shift, I finally got off work. It rained quite a bit after my prediction and much time hasn't passed since it stopped raining.
"It's so wet out here. Thank god, the rain stopped. I just hope no car splashes water on me and if it does? I am officially gonna accept that my luck has died and is resting in peace by now. But there is one great thing that happened, I could get my coffee" I said and took a sip of my Iced caramel macchiato. I stood in front of the store, waiting for the taxi that I booked.
*Ding*
My phone rang, indicating I got a message. I took out my phone and checked the notifications and my eyes widened.
"My ride was canceled? What?! Why?! No!!!!" I cried, "What am I gonna do now? I can't even see a taxi here. What should I do??" I asked myself as I again checked the app to book another ride but wasn't able to get one. Another ting was heard.
"Another notification? What is it this time?" I opened it and read it. After reading it, all I could do was freeze and even a couple of minutes later, the position was still maintained as I blinked a couple of times, not believing my eyes.
"I...I got the job?...I got the job...I got the job!!!!!" I exclaimed and jumped. I started dancing and singing with joy as the passersby looked at me weirdly but that was my least concern since I was overflowing with happiness.
"I got the job~ I got the job~ Yeah! Yeah! I got the job~ Woo-hoo!" I danced like there was no tomorrow, "I'm so happy! Finally! I got my dream job, well, not my dream job but! It sure is my dream company!" I hugged my phone to my chest, "Okay then, let's go home and tell Abigail. She will be so happy. Ah? My coffee!" I exclaimed and took a sip from my coffee and looked around for a cab. I couldn't wait to go home.
As I was looking for a cab, suddenly out of nowhere a car flew past me. And the other second, a whole lot of mud water suddenly came flying my way as my eyes widened. The next thing I knew, I was fully drenched. Due to the car's speed, the water was splashed all over me, causing me to be soaking wet, Head. To. Toe.
"Ahh!! What!? This Motha-!!" I yelled, slowly comprehending what in the world just happened to me. Soon after, a middle-aged man got out of the expensive car and came running towards me.
"I am so sorry, Ma'am. I really didn't mean to do it. It was an accident" the man excused and my anger only seemed to increase, "Excuse me, Mister! This is not right. Firstly, you are driving past the speed limit. Second, you made me all wet. And lastly, my coffee is ruined" my emotions took the best off me as I unintentionally made a crying face when I looked at my spoiled coffee.
"I deeply apologize. It was an order from my Boss to drive faster due to an emergency. I am extremely sorry" the man again apologized.
"Your boss? Then, he should be the one apologizing here. Did he ask you to apologize? What a rude and mannerless person he is" I said as the man stayed silent. I felt like a jerk to let out my anger on the man, he was just following the order given by his boss and he seemed really apologetic. While on the other hand, the boss that he speaks of really seems like a jerk here.
As I was talking to the driver, the car door opened which caught my attention. Soon, a tall built man got out of the car, making me pause in my actions. He had a neutral expression on his face as he walked towards me.
He was one heck of a handsome guy. Such beauties are still in production? I never thought the day would come when I would see one. Though his aura really made me speechless and I hate to admit but, he is prettier than me.
He stopped in front of me as I looked up. He was a tall dude. He looked down at me, making me a little nervous because of his overbearing demeanor but I didn't let that show. He gave off this mafia vibe, and I blame my recent dark romance read for this thought to occur in my mind.
Is this the boss? I wondered as I inspected him from head to toe. Expensive suit, Rolex watch, shoes shinier than my future, and an attitude of Mount Everest. Yup, fits the stereotype.
"Are you the Boss?" My voice came out way more stern than I thought it would but I guess that is a plus point since I shouldn't come off as weak.
