"When it comes to the internal affairs of the palace, I have sole power to take any decision until it affects the safety of his majesty, you, my lord." her voice was full of arrogance as she raised her head and looked back at him while crossing her legs.

There was no embarrassment on her face, that made her wonder if he was the only one who was affected by the scene from a few moments ago. Did it not affect her at all?

"I am not here to question you on your management, empress. I know that you are a meticulous woman and perfect in your work." he waved his hands and smiled.

The maid returned with the water and he took a glass and drank all in one swig. He failed to notice the look of shock that passed through her eyes and how her body froze for a second before loosening again.

He picked up another glass and drank all of it. Only then did he feel better. The heat on his face cooled a bit and he took a breath.
