Chapter 152: White

I had chanced upon this movie where the lead was plunged into a series of trials before he was allowed to ascend. 

It was entertaining and an eye-opener to watch. But undergoing the same process in real life was a totally different experience.

My heart was racing; in my mind, I recalled what Elise said last before she faded into the background again. I was left to stand in the middle of a green pasture.

The sun was high above the skies, bright and mockingly cheerful. A few birds chirped happily as they flew by, dancing to the rhythm of the soft breeze. 

My feet were bare, as usual, and my clothes were white. Certainly, I'm not dreaming of marriage that badly.

I pursed my lips, turning from left to right, trying to see what kind of trick I had fallen into now. 

But it was seemingly empty. 

"So my heart's greatest desire is to live alone in a field full of grass?"

I scoffed.
