Chapter 41: Better Off (Ch.41)

"It has barely been a few days since Her Grace awakened. Nothing has been resolved, Amir's fate is also unknown. If anything were to happen at this time..." Zevon trailed off, the mere thought was painful to conceive.

If anything happened to Chantria, Amir's fate would be even worse than it had been before. If there was anything worse than being executed by drowning.

What was worse, Zevon was certain it would not end with Amir this time.

Jai stared pointedly at Zevon for a moment.

"You think too much, Zevon." Jai finally replied, his tone still unbothered.

Zevon sighed again, he knew there was hardly anything that could faze the cold and aloof Jai Jargal and Jai was particularly disinterested in matters pertaining to Chantria.

There had been times when Zevon had also wished he could be as detached as Jai was, but the fact remained Jai Jargal was Jai Jargal and Zevon Jamal was Zevon Jamal, the two could never be the same.
