Chapter 12: Making Plans
" I don't think I need to explain why you lost, do I? " Naoya asked Noritoshi.
" No need sensei." Noritoshi said, taking a sip of water. " if I had used new blood for every attack, I would have easily been able to use more options, instead of trying to maintain usage of the amount of blood I already had. "
" if you had done that, the fight would have been for more interesting! " Todo grinned. " You might have been able to beat me!! "
" I'll simply beat you next time. " Noritoshi replied with a smirk.
" Then let's fight again right now. " Todo said simply.
" No. " Noritoshi said.
Naoya watched as the other students come down to ask Noritoshi questions about his sudden development. As a sensei, he couldn't be prouder. Guess this is how Satoru feels when one of his students makes a breakthrough. Feeling a gaze on him, Naoya locks his gaze onto Momo who noticed him looking her way and turned her head away quickly. Naoya didn't pay more attention to it and simply decided to wait for Momo to come to him if it was something important.

" Hey babe, how's it going? " Naoya asked, once Shoko picked up the call while sitting in her office at Jujutsu Tech.
" Other than the fact Yuta will be going overseas with a sorcerer soon and us planning a farewell party, nothing much happened. " Shoko answered with a smile. " Also, babe? When did you get my permission to call me that? "
" When you pecked me on the lips. " Naoya answered.
" Pretty sure I was drunk, so that doesn't count. " Shoko said.
" Drinking makes people have no self-control and do stuff on impulse when they feel like it. Unless you're a sadist, I doubt you would kiss me for no reason. " Naoya said.
" Hmmm...good point. But let's at least get together officially before you call me that. " Shoko said.
" Alright then. Shoko, want to be my girlfriend? " Naoya asked.
" Okay, when did you get so smooth? " Shoko asked, laughter bubbling up to the surface.
" What's smooth about this? I'm just getting straight to the point. You gotta keep up. " Noaya said.
" That right. Then I'll catch up and take the lead now. Yes, I will be your girlfriend and you're going on a date with me to see the Silent Voice in theaters. " Shoko finalized.
" So remind me who's the smooth one again? " Naoya asked, chuckling.
" Just be sure to be on time, babe. I'll text you the details later. " Shoko said.
" Alright. See ya later Shoko. " Naoya said.
" You will Naoya, you will. " Shoko smirked, before hanging up the phone.
" What a woman. " Naoya muttered, putting his phone in his pocket. " You also heard none of this, understand Momo? "
" Crystal. " Momo said clearly, even though she was surprised inside. This guy is from the Zenin clan, a clan that thinks less of women, and yet he has a date.
" So, what up? I don't think you're a big fan of mine so it's a surprise to see you here. " Naoya said.
" Sensei. Who are you? " Momo asked. " Most, if not all, stories that talk about the big three families always state that they are shifty places to live and be raised especially for women.
They don't women equally, thinking less of them and mistreating them all the time. Yet you're here, and that throws everything out of order. Mai told me a lot about what happens in the Zenin clan, but you contradict all of that.
Shoko sensei is agreeing to go with you on a date! It makes no sense to me. "
" Makes sense. " Naoya nodded. " Truth of the matter is that's exactly how things go in most, if not all the major families, especially regarding women with low cursed energy.
Cursed energy is everything in Jujutsu, it's the basis for all that happens, which is why the more talent you have, the more you are praised, especially when you birth a child that can raise up and become someone strong.
But the same exact thing happens with the men as well. No matter who you are, you need to contribute something to the clan, and in the eyes of many, at least with men, you can train them to use weapons while having cursed energy reinforcement while women do other things.
It's the same in many cases, if you don't have talent, you're fucking worthless. You have talent, you're given everything because if someone doesn't behave the way that you should, you can always beat the shit out of them.
Strength means everything, cease you want people who can fight. Having children who can fight, can raise your reputation while having children with low potential can be a source of weakness to continually remind. Even extending to the point that one person becomes clan head while another of the same caliber is denied the position, all because of the children they bear.
' You're fucking worthless, my greatest mistake. '
People value strength which is why many try to seek it, as that way, you can turn your life or someone else's around. But gaining strength isn't easy, you might have to ignore some things in order to focus on getting stronger. "
" Are you... referencing Maki? " Momo asked, her subconscious putting the pieces together before her mind could understand.
" Am I? " Naoya asked, shrugging while saying, " Maybe. "
" But what about you Momo? What are you going to do? You don't want to be treated like this and yet you still conform to it. " Naoya said.
" Yeah, I do. " Momo said, looking at the ground, clutching her broom tightly. " I don't want to go fighting against curses which I stay back and support. It's scary and yet, there are people like Todo, who fight them with a smile on their faces.
How can they do that? Aren't they afraid of death, dying in such a gruesome way? But I still do something to help. Isn't that enough?"
" Perhaps they are, perhaps they aren't, but does that matter to you? How they live their life is their decision just like it's your decision to choose what you want to be.
It's fine to be scared of death, it's natural, and nobody wants to die... other than suicidal maniacs, but they are rare. As for you, I'll say this, you have potential. I've seen you creating strong gusts of wind with your broom, strong enough to hold back or slow down opponents.
I wonder what you could do with other tools, even cursed tools if you get to that level of strength, but as you are now, I don't see that happening, and I don't mean in the sense of sticking to being supportive. Just know this, you get one life, so do what you want and have no regrets about making your decision. "
" Then if I say that want to get stronger, will you help me? " Momo asked.
" Momo, I'm your sensei! " Naoya deadpanned. " Just ask. "
" ...okay. " Momo said, getting on her broom, " Good luck with your date, and treat Shoko sensei well. "
She then flew away towards the dorms while Naoya walked away down the halls.
" So, you and Shoko... " Utahime said.
" Do not tell Satoru or Mei Mei, they will make sure everyone knows?! " Naoya glared.
" I'm not going to tell them anything. " Utahime said bluntly. " So you must stop making plans to hide my body. "
" I wasn't going to kill you. Trap you in a room full of spiders on the other hand... " Naoya mentioned.
" I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that. " Utahime said. " With that said, I wonder what you're younger self would like if he saw you now? "
" He'd be petrified. " Naoya said while walking together with Utahime to the teacher's common room, " Or more likely have a heart attack... "
