Chapter 103: In Ann's shoes

"Mom?"

A shrill ran up Donnalee's spine upon hearing Mia ask that with a frown for obvious reasons, it was barely midday and according to everyone she should be at work.

"Hi Mia" she answered pretending to be sad.

"What's wrong? Why are you home so early?" The girl asked just as Raphaela and Branco came out of their house.

Donnalee looked them in the eye assessing how responsive they are, and so far its a mutual confusion.

"I got fired..." She said shrugging "See, there's something I've been keeping quiet for a while now, every time I go to work after a moon I tend to get sloppy, I make mistakes and fall asleep in the restrooms"

An alibi, or a lie, Donnalee already had a story prepared long before she even aimed to ambush Ann.

"So they just fired you? Is that even legal?" Raphaela asked.

"As I said, it was happening over time now, and they have given me multiple warnings already, guess today was my last draw"
