Chapter 48: Mate

Cora pulled her arm out and transferred it to another space between the bars where she tried to wrap it over him. Somehow Theo knew what she was after, and he shifted off of his belly, lying on his side instead with his back against the bars. And then her perfect, electrifying touch positioned itself over his heart and everything became bright and warm. 

He knew what this was. She was healing him. His eyes flew open in panic, and he tried to move away, but her second arm had woven its way through the bars and was now pressed over his neck, gently holding him down as she started murmuring to herself. Goddess, his perfect mate was healing him.

His eyes started to roll back, lulled into peace by the soft whispers of her voice that were calling something beyond them both for aid. He could feel it hovering over him—its sacred healing, its sacred life.
