Kelly's altered abilities had saved her life this time. However, they were so unstable and erratic that she had to think twice before using them. Prolonged exposure to radiation had caused micro mutations inside her body, rapidly altering her genetic constitution. Though she was suffering from the effects of radiation poisoning, they were quite negligible compared to what would happen to an ordinary human.

Being genetically modified before birth had made her body somewhat resistant to radiation and carcinogens. This was the reason she was still standing after being exposed to the nuclear fallout. Despite feeling a bit dizzy and exhausted, her internal organs were working just fine.
