Chapter 25: Chapter 25 - Training [2]

After around half an hour or so of flowing Cursed Energy throughout my body, I started to feel weary. My body and mind weren't used to handling Cursed Energy. Mana was something that was based off of Aura. And as an expert in Aura manipulation, Mana manipulation was easy. Although doing it in a new body made life more difficult than usual, it wasn't like I was stepping into foreign land.

But Cursed Energy is a whole different branch of power. But there's no better way to get better at something than to repeat it over and over until you achieve perfection.

I stood up, I had roughly 50% of ny Cursed Energy left over within my Demon Seed. Extending my hand, darkness seeped from within it, the darkness stretched and contracted, as if it were alive. The darkness slowly formed itself into the shape of a sword. Then, it solidified and formed Edge Of Nightfall. A sword I had used to slay countless foes, allies and civilians. A sword that had been drenched in the blood of an incomprehensible number of people.

It was a weapon that perfectly suited me.

I got a basic sword stance, sword forward, one leg planted firmly onto the ground with the other planted just behind.

And so, I swung. Once the swing was completed, I got back into my original and swing down. At the same time, I flowed Cursed Energy throughout my body. The air itself seemed to be sliced by my blade, unfortunately, do to my inexperience with Cursed Energy. My level of enhancement is pretty low, if I fought like this I'd probably lose even to someone like Iris who isn't even that combat oriented. Oh I should mention this now, Iris' speciality lies in buffing. She's basically plot armour incarnate, the protagonist needs a boost? Well fear not, Iris will push him a bit further, and for some strange reason that now means that he's able to use a new Rune ability because apparently his body can temporarily withstand it now.

Or something like that, my memory is a bit fuzzy, I don't really remember much about the protagonist anymore. Honestly, ever since I've reincarnated I've taken it easy.

I just really needed a break. Today's the first day I've bothered to structure a proper training regiment. I need to get stronger, I'm going to be attending the academy. Both to satisfy my own wants and because I'll have to do so. I've been recognised by four important nobles, Angelica, Leon, Irene and Iris. If I weren't allowed to attend the academy for any reason, they would certainly get angry. And Angelica is an abnormality, someone like her would be able to force me to go to the academy one way or another.

And like I said, I want to attend the academy. I never took part in an academy in my last life, so, I'm interested in what an academy is like. But to thrive in academy, I'll need power. I don't have authority, but I have strength. I won't be flaunting said strength, but I'll probably use it if I need to. Or I'll just hide behind one those four kids, it'd be embarrassing but I can swallow my pride if it means surviving.

If I can live, then nothing else really matters, if I can live then I can continue to live on and accomplish my goals.

I gazed at my sword, and when I saw my reflection, I realised that it wasn't my reflection. But 'that' thing had come back to haunt my mind once more. My head felt like it was being torn apart, however the pain I was feeling wasn't something I couldn't handle. I once again flowed Cursed Energy throughout my body, I then decided to form a sheathe with my creation based ability. Black mist emerged from my hands and slowly shaped itself into a sheath that could hold Edge Of Nightfall.

I sheathed my weapon and changed stance, now I was leaning forward, each leg firmly planted onto the ground. My left arm held onto the sheath while my right arm held onto the handle. I took a deep breath in, and just before I exhaled, I coated my blade in Cursed Energy and unsheathed it a speed that could not be perceived by the naked eye. When my sword stopped moving, a gust of air was produced.

This act of unsheathing my sword looked to be simple enough, and it was, mainly because I had just done the most basic form of unsheathing out there. However, there was a Swordsman who took this act of quickly unsheathing his blade to it's limits. He created technique that tore through flesh and seemed to warp space itself. 'Primoridal Flash.' The most powerful quick draw technique I knew of. The man who used it was in his late 70s yet he was still able to warp space with it's speed.

He was only able to use Primordial Flash in his later years, that is because the technique demanded perfection. Nothing short of it would be enough to use the technique. It took him years of testing out different muscle activation orders to maximise its effectiveness. And it took him even longer to become good enough at Aura manipulation to be able to meticulously activate the correct muscles at the right intervals. And then, he had to develop his own body so that he could make his sword go even faster.

It took him this long because he didn't possess talent. The old man nearly broke down into tears when I was able to comprehend his technique after only our third battle. You see, when battles between our nations occurred, the old man was usually deployed. And I was usually picked to hold him off.

I never really bothered with learning his technique, I do understand it's theory though. The order of activation is simple enough, but the timing is what's crucial. Another thing about this move is that there's a small opening that can be used against you if you use this move, this attack requires a short moment to build up your Aura, or in my case Cursed Energy or Mana. If you continuously use this move the opponent will be able to adapt to it, this move is usually a trick that you have.

But thankfully for me, I can use Cursed Energy. Most people struggle to sense it, so I can more or less use Primordial Flash as many times as I want. This attack uses a moderate amount of energy, so I can't really spam it right now.

***

After several hours of constantly sheathing and unsheathing my blade I finally collapsed onto the floor, I had run out of Cursed Energy a few times, when I did so, I just repeated the movements but without the enhancements. I couldn't practiced with Mana, but I wanted to fully memorize the action. And I'm planning on one day using Demon's Breath and Cursed Energy in conjuction, it has potential for becoming a useful way to make it so no one can sense me.

While I lay on the floor, I heard some footsteps and saw both Irene and Iris wearing their pijamas and they were heading towards me.

A/N: it has come to my attention that some of yall didn't understand that by nightwear I literally just meant pijamas, so I've changed it so people don't misunderstand
