Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Grimoire Acceptance Ceremony.
Three pillars of light descended inside a forest, somewhere near Hage Village. They found themselves looking at the demon skull that was left as the testament of the first Wizard King's triumph over the Demon.
"So, we are in a world that is set around the medieval era. So, we won't be using much of technology or things that should not be anywhere around this time period. Savvy?" Aster looked at the two figures standing before him.
"That might get boring pretty soon..." Koro Sensei groaned.
"The Wizard King is supposed to be the strongest right? Come on Aster, let's go challenge him!" Madoka smiled with fighting spirit burning bright in her eyes.
"We can deal with boredom and we need a grimoire for appearance's sake at least, if you don't count the power-up we will get from that." Aster sighed as he started analyzing his surroundings using his enhanced senses.
"So, any ideas on which Knight Squad to join?" Koro Sensei asked.
"I guess, we being together might get the people a lot of headaches, so let's go wherever it suits us the most. Like, Madoka could join the Crimson Lions and you could maybe try and fit in with the Golden Dawn while I keep an eye on Asta in the Black Bulls, any objections?" Aster asked as he looked at the two of them smiling with a look of approval.
"But, I want someone to spar with, the fire attributed grimoire might be the best suited with the lions indeed. Look for someone I can play with~" Madoka smiled as she caressed the grimoire on her hip.
"Look for someone called Mereoleona, I have a feeling that the two of you will get along really well." Aster chuckled. "For Ryu, you can keep an eye on Yuno and join his group to keep him alive and all, but don't actively hinder his progress. Let's get to the venue and fix us some identities, this might be tough but with some cash, I guess it won't be too troublesome."
'Athena, teleport us to the grimoire tower in Hage, I will leave the coordinates to you.' Aster spoke with Athena in his thoughts.
<Sure, Master.>
"Okay, let's try teleportation, and don't do anything weird unless you want to lose a limb or two, behind." Aster chuckled while the other two smiled at the comment.
They appeared before the tall tower made from blocks of stone and walked in with the other boys and girls who were going there for their grimoire acceptance ceremony. Koro Sensei spotted the duo they were looking for, a shorty with grey hair and a fairly handsome boy with black hair.
"I guess, we are joining the plot from here on. Well, let's get our grimoires and get the hell out of here, we still have to plan a lot on our next moves." Aster spoke as they entered the tower while Madoka nodded and Koro Sensei was busy checking out each and every grimoire in the place above Mach 20 speeds.
Once a crowd of 15-year-olds has gathered, the master of the Grimoire Tower begins his speech regarding his desire for at least one of the mages who attend the ceremony to enter the ranks of the Magic Knights.
As soon as he finished, the ceremony begins and various grimoires from the library begin to glow and fly toward their respective users. While the attendees begin to compare their new grimoires with each other, Asta suddenly complains that none of the grimoires came toward him.
Seeing this, the master of the tower simply asks him to try again in the following year. As the other attendees start laughing at him, a bright glow manifests from Yuno's direction as he receives his grimoire. Everyone then realizes that Yuno had just received a grimoire with a four-leaf clover insignia.
While all of the attendees are still astonished by it, Yuno declares his intention on becoming a Magic Emperor, which is followed by a loud cheer from everyone.
But then three bursts of mana flared in the room and three four-leaf grimoires came down from the tower and floated down to the trio no one paid any attention prior to this and now they were regretting it.
Rays of white, blue, and red cascaded the trio as the grimoires descended, bathing them in mana as if the mana itself was welcoming their arrival, it was a majestic scene as the trio of two handsome men and a wild beauty stood there with smiles as they took hold of their grimoires. While the girls were swooning over the appearance of Aster and Koro Sensei, the boys on the other hand were drooling like dawgs.
Call it intuition, but none dared approach them, this might be the aura or something else, but no one dared to interrupt them as they left the tower without any words. It was only after they left that the other remembered that they had to breathe and broke out in cold sweat from the mana pressure the trio emitted as their grimoires descended.
Yuno who was under the assumption that he was special, the chosen one, and what not when the four-leaf grimoire chose him, all of that came down tumbling when he saw that there were three others who had received four-leaf grimoires as well, and even more so when he felt the mana pressure when the three got their grimoires.

Asta on the other hand is left in a daze after the whole event, as he hangs on a tree near the tower. While he tries to comfort himself, the boy notices Yuno near the gate to the tower being ambushed by Revchi Salik, a former Magic Knight who would like to sell Yuno's grimoire in the black market for the money.
Seeing his friend in trouble, Asta quickly comes in to help him and demands the former Magic Knight return Yuno's grimoire. Asta is unable to hold his own against Revchi who is armed with a grimoire. Revchi then breaks Asta's spirit by revealing that Asta has no magic power at all and was born a loser for that reason.
Asta's negative thoughts drop his morale down to the point where he almost gives up on his dream of becoming the Magic Emperor. Yuno refutes Revchi's insult and calls Asta his rival, which brings Asta's self-confidence back up and motivates him to keep fighting. Suddenly a grimoire flies out of the wall of the tower.
Revchi notices that it has a five-leaf clover insignia was scared so much that he was quivering in his boots, as a large sword appears from the grimoire. Asta grabs it and defeats Revchi with it, simply by bashing the man with that blunt sword.
Aster and the company stood in the shadows as they watched the plot unfold and Asta receive the grimoire that made the title of this world, the 'Black Clover.'
